Poliosis or Mallen streak

I have a streak of blonde hair in my otherwise dark brown hair, have had it since I was born. Was told when I was young it was a Mallen streak (think a character in a Catherine Cookson TV adaptation had one and made it more known about) but found out today it's called poliosis. Doesn't do any harm except I was teased a lot about it as a young child and called a witch's daughter so hated it til Cindy Crawford made streaks cool...I am 45 now and actual now like it. Have read it's usually white hair as its caused by lack of pigmentation, but mine's definitely blonde. Anyone else with a blonde streak or any hairdressers who have had clients with one? Starting to get a few grey hairs and worried about having to start dyeing my hair and how that bit will react to dyes. Thanks

I have a Mallen streak too, I was told it’s just like any other birthmark- an area where the pigmentation differs.

I’ve dyed my hair a few times and it’s always taken the dye fine.

I have a white mallen streak in my dark brown hair. Used to get people thinking I had paint in my hair, its now more disguised by the rest of my hair going grey.
I dye my hair every four weeks, streak takes natural colours fine.
When I was younger I used to use blue/black, red and purple dyes, the streak would always be very bright.

My son has a red underfringe, he's dark blonde / light brown everywhere else

I've only tried dyeing my hair once and it was a Shader & Toner in the 80s, a brunette wash-in/wash-out - turned my streak pink for my o grade prelims 😆

But now wondering about starting to dye it now getting the odd gray hairs

DSis has a blond streak in her brown hair like you (so does one of my DDs) and she uses henna on her hair and it just is a slightly stronger colour than the rest but in a good way.

DD has a blonde streak in her brown hair and it looks really nice. People do ask me if she's got highlights though. She's 9.
