How many sizes can a dress be taken in easily?

I’m a bridesmaid in 10 days. My dress has just arrived and is several sizes too big. It’s a maternity dress, I’m 25 weeks pregnant and it slips down to the ground if straps aren’t up. It’s a sequinned, non-stretch material. It was ordered based on my pre-pregnancy measurements- I’ve not gained much weight but certainly not dropped several sizes!

I’ve made an appointment with a dressmaker on Tuesday but am concerned it’s going to be a huge job?

It really depends on the style. Something with no sleeves- easy. Straps should be moved towards the centre of the dress to keep proportions.

Has spaghetti straps, planning to add a proper strap though. It’s really very big though. The bust slips over my 25 week bump with the zip up!

Honestly not a problem! Huge moulded cups might cause problems but generally much easier to go from big to small than vice versa,

Dressmaker thinks she can do it. It’s going to have to come in almost 8 inches though! Have no idea how my measurements could have corresponded to this dress!
