Help me find gorgeous earrings.

As part of my effort to look a bit more polished I have started to regularly wear earrings. I wear my long hair back a lot and at the moment I am wearing diamond studs. They are not massive and are about 1/3 of a carat.

I have a big birthday coming up and would like to have another pair of earrings to wear when I have my hair back. I love my studs but everyone has them and I think they are a bit safe. I would like to get a new pair of earrings (not dangly) that I can wear with hair back, perhaps with diamonds that I can keep for ever and look at them remembering my family bought them for my big birthday. Budget up to £1,000. I would like something a bit glamorous and/ stunning but that I can wear regularly during the day.

I'm amused by your statement that "everyone" has diamond stud earrings!

Personally I'd go for something classical and timeless- try Mappin and Webb who have a few options around that price point or have a look at some antique options where you would get a lot more for your money. You could even get small sapphire, emerald or ruby studs for that.

I love this British jeweller

I have some of her jewellery. Less run of the mill and you could find something in your price range

£1000 for a pair of earrings?! Do people really spend that much? I just spent £25 on some lovely ones.

Apologies - I really it's none of my business, but I just can't get my head around this at all.

Of course not everyone has diamond studs. What I mean (backtracking...) is that a lot of women wear earrings that look like diamond studs. It seems to be a staple.

Thanks for the tips. I do especially like the ones form etsy.

I have never spent this much on a pair of earrings. I bought diamond studs 23 years ago overseas and they cost me a couple fo hundred. To replace them now would cost £1,000 Shock That said, I really want something special for my big birthday that I can keep forever. I don't plan on ever getting such a present again. I don't wear any other jewellery apart from a watch.

What colour is your hair? I've got very dark brown hair that's around collar bone length. I love wearing off-white studs as the contrast looks great. I think they're timeless and can wear them for every day and special occasions too. Definitely not going to cost £1,000 but an idea to get as a staple for less than £100. Then you'll have three pairs! Diamond stud, pearl stud and your super special pair.

I git med diamond hoops, diamond inside and out about 10 years ago, about 1,000. (Big birthday too). I’m super glad I got them instead of studs, classic but a bit more obvious!

I've got some similar to these: www.ernestjones.co.uk/webstore/d/4486471/9ct+white+gold+0.50ct+diamond+cluster+stud+earrings/

Unfortunately, I've lost quite a few pairs of diamond earrings, and replaced via home insurance (so had one pair, got lost, replaced on insurance, lost, replaced on insurance etc). The original pair were relatively cheap - about £200, but the cost of gold and diamonds has increased so much, the equivalent eventually crept up to £1k ish.

Top tip: I had my last replacement pair converted into screw backs. They'll never drop out of my ears!!

I’d go for a pair of gold and diamond huggie hoops in that price range. Have a look at KC designs and Astley Clarke.

IHaventACluedo · 09/09/2018 09:24

Like the look of the hugger hoops.

My hair is dark brown and bra length.

It IS for a big birthday though. It’s all relative to personal situations. Some people would be just as baffled about a £25 pair as you are about a 1K pair.

Just don’t go to a high street jewelers OP.
