Determined to be warm this winter! Welly socks?

I have splashed out on some Le Chameau wellies. Neoprene lines so meant to be warm.

I would like some welly socks. I don’t care how much, I want the best! I can’t face another winter like last.

Many thanks

Mountain warehouse. Toasty.

Bellabutterfly2016 · 08/09/2018 08:23

Joules or Hunter welly socks are both fab I have some of each but look on eBay people sell secondhand brand new unwanted gifts 🎁

Allthepinkunicorns · 08/09/2018 08:25

I just wear fluffy socks when wearing my wellies and that keeps my feet super toasty. I'm thinking of getting thermals this year though as my feet are so warm and the rest of my body is cold.

rudehealth · 08/09/2018 08:26

Oh not thought of joules or hunter

Thanks but I can’t stand mountain warehouse for some reason. Always found poor quality. Staff also so unhelpful

Hunters...

I’m a size 5.5
Best to go large 6-8
Or medium 4-6

Woollen socks rather than cotton/bamboo/fleece. A thin woollen pair then a thick woollen pair.

Try Cambridge baby.

MissRainbowBrite · 08/09/2018 08:38

Honestly, if you have a decent pair of neoprene wellies you won't need thick, fluffy welly socks.
I had a pair of Aigle neoprene wellies for the first time last winter and even on the coldest of days I just wore a pair of warmer normal socks and my feet were toasty.

rudehealth · 08/09/2018 08:40

Just looked at Cambridge baby
No welly socks

I suffer from raynards syndrome

I wear knee high heat holders, very cosy!

ApolloandDaphne · 08/09/2018 08:48

The Hunters socks are not very fitted. Don't get the bigger ones or they will all bunch up round your feet.

I treated myself to new wellies last year. I got the Aigle Victorine fur lined ones and they are so cosy you only need normal socks with them. I love them.

rudehealth · 08/09/2018 08:53

Hunter welly socks half price on their website... hooray!

I have raynaulds and have had neoprene wellies for a few years - they are the best wellies ever but I still need wellie socks or, that is, I wear thick unbranded thermal socks on top of standard cotton socks or thermal tights and these keep my feet toasty. My hands and head however are a different story...

stargirl1701 · 08/09/2018 09:01

I don't use specific welly socks. Just 2 layers of wool with neoprene boots - Bogs Boots.

holycityzoo · 08/09/2018 09:06

I've got hunter welly socks and they are thick fleece and toasty warm I would go 4-6 or they could end up bunched up and uncomfy.
I don't have raynaulds but I'm always freezing and one of the nicest and warmest thing I wear in winter is cashmere socks, not cashmere blend 100% cashmere they keep your feet so warm and feel lovely.
They aren't cheap about £20-30 but so so worth it.

XingMing · 08/09/2018 11:32

Job done

The world's finest socks. My mum gave me some 15 years ago, and I have worn nothing else in winter since. No, I don't work for them!

rudehealth · 08/09/2018 11:51

@xingming

I’m sold! But which one you recommend for wellies?

XingMing · 08/09/2018 13:58

I mostly buy the Companion socks for everything, but I think there's a knee-length version as well.

macnab · 08/09/2018 15:17

Would you mind linking to the wellies you've got please?

EBay or your local army surplus store for British army Arctic socks, wool & toasty warm. Not expensive either.

househunthappening · 08/09/2018 17:44

Give the wellies a few wears before investing in the socks. I've got the same ones and my feet are always toasty, they'd be sweating if I added thick welly socks.

Great wellies though and they will last you forever and ever.
