Are ponchos still ‘in’ this year?

I absolutely loved wearing mine last autumn, but haven’t seen any around yet, this time last year they seemed to be everywhere!

Are they now passé?

It would be a real shame if so, not least because they hide so many sins!

Spotted my first one on the school run this morning, so maybe not.

I hope so.
I have several from last year that I lived in. Winser & Jigsaw are still selling them. I think they’re a perennial classic.

Watching with interest. I didn’t buy one last year, but am considering doing so this season...

Elledorado · 07/09/2018 14:20

I feel capes more so than ponchos?

aperolspritzplease · 07/09/2018 14:44

I must be way out of the loop - haven't seen a poncho for years!

lynmilne65 · 07/09/2018 14:46

I used to feed my baby under one (he's 38 now) 😁

Ivgotasecretcanyoukeepit · 07/09/2018 14:52

A cape maybe but when have ponchos ever been ‘in’?

MrsLucas · 07/09/2018 17:18

Channel Clint Eastwood - you'll be fine. Iconic.

Oly5 · 08/09/2018 21:49

Were they ever in? I just associate them with the horsey set

Ifonlyiweretaller · 08/09/2018 23:20

Gosh this brougght back memories of when M&S brought one out a long time ago (we're probably talking 20 years or even more) Per Una I think it was.
A very loose crochet style, in varying colours (mine was lime green) and for some reason they developed 'cult' status and people were buying them then putting them straight on ebay at massively higher prices. This was in the days when you couldn't even buy online from M&S, when ebay was still relatively new and amazing though!

Just wear it! Start a new trend!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 09/09/2018 01:43

Love them but wraps are easier to wear as ponchos restrict the arms.

Collectorofcookbooks · 09/09/2018 05:22

Laughing at the horsey set, we do live in the countryside and it’s very like that around here, maybe we’re an isolated pocket!

Capes far too high fashion for round here methinks. I adore pashminas, but too much faff on the school run, can’t wear one and juggle everything without it coming undone.

perhaps I could put some cowboy boots with it to complete the look @MrsLucas Grin

I've got several in various colours (grey, black, burgundy, dusky pink-quite lightweight wool/viscose)and wear them every year. Perfect extra layer when It's not quite coat weather.

Monty27 · 09/09/2018 07:48

I didn't know it was about ponchos since about 10 years ago.
It's all about shawls and wraps where I live.

MrsLucas · 09/09/2018 08:22

Grin I have a Missioni one (TK Maxx find) and I find this works for me. Cheroot optional.

MrsLucas · 09/09/2018 08:26

A horse would work to.Grin

PastaRedWine · 09/09/2018 12:04

I have a cape. It's a bit horsey posh, but I have decided to embrace the secret Jill Cooper part of me 😆

I think it's very specific to just autumn though.
