Has anyone had Botox in their jaw (masseter muscle)? Maybe as part of TMJ treatment? If so, did you notice a difference in appearance of your face?

Yes I've had it done twice for teeth grinding.
Definitely helped with my teeth grinding. Both times my face got noticeably slimmer around the jawline. I would say it lasted 6 months the first time and about 8 months the second.

I've given it a break for a while as I read a study that said Botox in the jaw can degrade bone. So I'm a bit wary now. Even so I still would consider having it done again if my grinding gets really bad again. Although it's been 2 years since I had it done my grinding is about 30% improved even now

The slimming effect sounds quite interesting. I’m hoping that a combination of Botox and my mouth guard will help me stop grinding & clenching, so hopefully I won’t need many injections. I will look into that study and mention it to my consultant as that sounds quite concerning!
