Warm coats for small skinny 5 year old

I'm struggling to find a warm winter coat for my just turned 5 year old girl.

She's quite small for her age and v slim and I'm finding that the ones I've come across so far completely drown her with all the padding. She often ends up looking like a walking lagging jacket!

I've so far checked M&S, Next, Boots and Gap. Is there anywhere else I could be looking that might cater for the smaller child?

I assume you've tried smaller coats? Eg. age 4? H&M sometimes come up slim for my DS.

Yep, she's still lost in all the padding. Will try H&M.

You could try La Redoute. I buy DD's vests there because they are much narrower than English brands.

Have you tried the more autumnal coats from M and S? They have an inner part too. My children are tiny too and I think it fits nicely. www.marksandspencer.com/3-in-1-fisherman-coat-3-months-7-years-/p/p60164183?image=SD_04_T77_5104W_ZZ_X_EC_90&color=MULTI&carousel=spotlightTop&pdpredirect

Gap

BIt of a long link sorry, not sure how to post it neatly!

The m and s one is available in a few colours and the inner zips out. It seems warm but not padded winter style. Next have a couple that are similar but don’t have zip out bits.

It’s padded inside, just doesn’t look it!

I searched for fisherman’s jackets. John Lewis has some too I think.

I got my dd(4) a nice coat from M&co. She's slim and doesn't like loads of padding. This is quite slim fitting, and is warm but not super thick like some.

Try Zara, they've got loads of stylish coats for DC at the moment, I've bought two padded coats for DD. Maybe try the next size down but I do find Zara kids sizing smaller on average, their age 2-3 is getting too small for my 50th centile 2 year old so may work for your dd

Uniqlo. DD is also v slender and her coat is great. The Uniqlo down coats also pack up really small so good for stuffing in bags and lockers

Thanks all!

I ended up finding a school coat that fits her perfectly in Primark! Ironically, I wasn't even looking at the time. V happy as I also saved a few ££ too!
