Shampoo or conditioner- which is worth spending ££s on?

Settle a debate with me and a friend. I am/ was using kiehls shampoo and conditioner both around £17 each which is a fair whack on stuff like this. Friend says she will buy high end shampoo and use any old conditioner (within reason.)

I've experimented today with Garnier Ultimate Blend shampoo and Kiehls amino acid conditioner.

I'e got longish hair so tend to use more conditioner than shampoo to get enough product in my hair.

I agree.

My hair is quite fine and straight, but a lot of it. Harsh shampoos seem to strip it and it goes flyaway, but products which are supposed to give body or fullness, or 'moisturise' make it sticky and flat. I like the Kiehls shampoo etc a lot, but am happy to experiment.
