L'occitane almond Supple Skin oil FAIL

So... I have been using L'occitane products for a while now, namely the Almond Milk Concentrate, cherry blossom lotion and perfume, the Almond oil shower stuff and recently treated myself to the Almond Supple Skin Oil for my birthday. It smells lovely when I put it on...

But then within an hour it starts smelling awful - dusty, musty, plastic, old cooking oil, chemical sort of smell. And it clings to my clothes so that heightens the smell and it doesn't go away until I wash myself and the clothes.

I've scoured the Internet for reviews thinking I can't be the only person who has this problem with the oil but it gets rave reviews everywhere!

I've never had an issue like this with any of their other products or anyone else's, I don't have sensitive skin - if that makes a difference, nor am I a generally stinky or sweaty person. Also, I'm not pregnant so not a weird pregnancy smell thing!

I have written to them in the hope that they will send me a replacement of a different product, as I live too far from a store to pop in and sort it out plus I probably threw away the receipt Blush but it would show on my bank statement as an eye watering £30 for an unusable product.

Thoughts or ideas? Has anyone had similar reactions to a skin product with regards to it's odour?

TIA

Shame. If you'd bought it from QVC (presumably you didn't) you could have returned it and got your money back!

Maybe mix it with a cream? Another base oil? Sorry don't know what else to suggest.

I think all of this range smells plasticky...keep on getting given the shower oil as a gift but I hate it! I think you're probably just noticing the scent more in the skin oil.

@ferretface I thought I can't be the only one! They have asked me for the batch number etc so hopefully something good will come out of it!

Not really related but my L’occitane moan is that the almond oil shower stuff leaves a horrible residue all around my shower. Pity because I love the smell!
