Can someone talk to me about facial hair?

It’s getting to be a real problem!

I’ve always been fairly hairy. Blonde, fuzzy. It’s getting much much worse on my face (I’m 31).

Moustache hairs are getting longer, I’ve got patches of blonde but with hair on my chin and I have the occasional really long blonde hair appearing from no where.

I pluck the wiry patches and the long stray ones when I see them, but it’s so time consuming and I’m really paranoid as they catch the light.

I understand laser doesn’t work as well on light hair? Do I bite the bullet and get my face waxed?

Braun facial epilator - I do it every other day and am starting to see a difference.

Hedgehogblues · 03/09/2018 21:52

I just shave every two or three days

multivac · 03/09/2018 22:07

Yup. I shave. Y'know, like blokes do. Takes seconds. Works.

oigetoffmycheese · 03/09/2018 22:25

Sali Hughes did a piece on this and she says the only thing is shaving. waxing pulls your skin and after a few years it shows by being a bit baggy, threading/plucking seems to stimulate the follicle.

Shaving with a men's electric shave type thing takes seconds and leaves no stubble. Contrary to popular belief or doesn't grow back thicker.

It's life changing. Try it!

Shaving works fine but i was doing it twice a day. Id like to reduce that.

PawneeParksDept · 03/09/2018 22:49

REALLY? Like a proper men's electric shaver? Shock

Hedgehogblues · 03/09/2018 22:52

well I use a safety razor but I used to use a men's electric shaver and that worked fine

If its new hair cropping up in abnormal places eg chin then electrolysis is needed. It kills the hair follicle so no more can grow back. Plucking just stimulates more growth. Laser only works for a couple if years. It doesn't kill the hair follicles so they grow back.
Electrolysis works on blonde hairs too. I am having weekly chin electrolysis done and shaving in between.

WomblingWoman · 03/09/2018 23:39

I have pale blond fuzz too.

Tried a NO No, the spring type things etc

Best I've found is the Japanese facial razors. Quick and easy and I've found they've actually improved my skin as they effectively exfoliate also.

Make goes on much better as well.

There are other ones available but I've found these are the best by a long, long way. I tend to buy them in bulk as they get shipped from Japan and buying one pack means the shipping costs more than a single pack.

The ones you get from the U.K. just aren't as good.

Sorry I meant "make up goes on better".

The epistick definitely has a knack to it. I watched a YouTube video about it, because I thought it was shite when I bought it, at first! You have to get a good U shape with the coil, and roll. It can be a bit eye watering but you get used to it. It does get the small hairs and any that it doesn't completely remove seem to have been loosened, so tweezers get the strays easily. Can you tell I'm chuffed with it? So much better than the years of bloody Jolene bleached moustache!

Oblomov18 · 04/09/2018 06:54

Mine is definitely getting worse! Fed up with being hairy.

snowsun · 04/09/2018 07:22

I bought a wax machine and wax my own. Best thing I ever did. Saved me a lot of money over time and I can sort it out as it's needed, not when I can get an appointment.

I know the tweezerman is a bit pricey. I had a few 99p episticks from Amazon and they also worked great. The problem I had was my toddler kept finding them and pulling the spring open. So far he hasn’t wrecked the tweezerman one but watch this space Hmm

Tanaqui · 04/09/2018 16:46

The tweezer man one has to be the right way round- think it is the writing facing your face- but try the other way if not! It only works one way. It’s easy to use but sometimes snaps the hair rather than pulling it out which is annoying.
