I have two outdoorsy coats - one that is very warm and padded, and another one that is waterproof and windproof but not at all warm enough for cold Winter days. Does anyone have any recommendations please. I can stretch to about £150 if it is the perfect coat!

I've got this and it's brilliant in wet, cold weather and gives proper coverage and is properly waterproof www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk/waterproof-jackets-raincoats/all-rain/fleece-lined-waterproof-womens-janelle-coat_black.htm

bingo thanks for posting this link, I've just ordered this coat too Flowers

bingohandjob · 31/08/2018 21:10

It's really practical - it does what it's supposed to and I love the longer length cos it actually keeps you dry if it's bucketing down. Hope you like it!

TheFallenMadonna · 31/08/2018 21:38

Second the Seasalt Janelle. V warm and not too bulky.

Judydreamsofhorses · 31/08/2018 21:58

I bought that Seasalt coat last year and have only worn it twice, despite living in rainy Scotland. It is warm and waterproof, but I feel so frumpy in it. I need to put it on eBay.

celeryeater · 31/08/2018 22:02

I'm only 5'2, would this absolutely swamp me?

stressedoutpa · 31/08/2018 22:05

I'm looking too. I like the look of that Seasalt coat. What size are you @Judydreamsofhorses?

I was eyeing up these two coats earlier....

Try Ilse Jacobsen! Plenty on Amazon.

I had a craghoppers emery jacket last winter that was lovely and long and warm and completely waterproof. I’m going to buy myself a new one the last this year. Last years doesn’t fit due to weight loss.

Methe · 31/08/2018 22:12

Crafhoppers emley

TomHardysNextWife · 31/08/2018 22:13

I've got a Jack Wolfskin long softshell jacket that's fleece lined but isn't remotely bulky. It's perfect in all weathers and even coped with -5c in Prague a few winters ago with just a jumper underneath. I can wear it to walk the dog and it's smart enough to wear to work too. It was around £130 I think but has been worth every penny.

Judydreamsofhorses · 01/09/2018 00:13

Mine’s a 10, in black, stressed. If anyone wants it, shout. It genuinely has only been worn twice, and I bought it in John Lewis last year.

dungandbother · 01/09/2018 01:12

Not in your budget but may be 2nd hand

I've the Northface Artic Parker. Mine is 8 years old and absolutely going strong. I respray the outside every couple of years for water proofing. But I've not actually machine washed the down because I don't get it stinky.

Never cold. Never wet.

AwkwardSquad · 01/09/2018 06:14

I’ve got a Seasalt Janelle coat too. It’s a wee bit frumpy but when I’m slogging to and from the station to work every day in the depths of winter, I could not give a damn because I’m warm and dry. Can recommend.

Wingingit3211 · 01/09/2018 06:19

Another vote for sea salt coats. They don’t have the one I bought last year but i love it. It’s warm and waterproof

dudsville · 01/09/2018 06:28

Dungandbother, can I ask what you mean by respraying please?

I have 3 winter coats and love 2 of them so much I haven't bought a new one for years. One is the Arctic parka. So warm and water proof and the hood stays put and isa the best coat I've ever owned. I do wash it so I'll be glad to know if I should be spraying it.

My other coat is a massive wool blanket of a thing. Big in a 1940s way. It reminds me of my glamorous grandmother, but it's not waterproof!

ilovetvandchocolates · 01/09/2018 06:56

I just bought a craghoppers Mhairi jacket, very warm, waterproof and long. The hood is great as well!

LightastheBreeze · 01/09/2018 07:46

I have a couple of Seasalt coats, a Janelle and another similar to Janelle but don't know the name, both warm and waterproof. Always worth looking on Next Clearance for them, I bought both of mine for half price from there. I also have a fairly old Merrell Wakefield but that isn't as long as the Seasalts.
