Work trousers HELP!

Having worked part time for 10 years since having DCs I'm starting back full time next week and I don't think I have enough work wear to last me a full 5 days in the office!

I have lots of dresses but only two pairs of trousers - one navy straight leg and one black skinny cropped. I think I probably need at least one if not two other pairs to get me through autumn/winter but I'm really struggling to find anything I like that suits me. I'm a size 12, big bum but small waist and chunky calves so I think a high waist/wide leg is probably my best bet but I just can't find anything apart from the cropped styles which just look ridiculous on me, plus I think I'll get cold ankles in the winter!

I'm a HOC autumn so been looking for rust/brown/tan type colours. Everything I try on is either too skinny so hugs my calves but is baggy at the knee or too baggy and cropped so I look like a clown!

Budget is probably about £50 per pair, I don't want to spend loads but do need to look professional as it's quite a corporate environment.

Please help me!

I am similarly shaped but wide-legs don't look good on me, they make me look a bit cuboid and I don't like the way they look with flat shoes.

I wanted to suggest these from M&S - available in burgundy and navy if that's any good? I have them in charcoal, they are very plain and unobjectionable and inexpensive but quite good quality, and I can wear a belt to fit them to my waist.

Boden do the best work trousers, the ones with stretch are fab

I like Zara for work trousers. Reiss is also great- check the sale.

I second Boden. Boden Richmond trousers come in straight, bootleg or 7/8 and various colors/patterns. There is 20% off Boden running from Sunday 2nd - Thurs 6th Sept. If you are feeling flush the Boden tweed wide legs are also brilliant but they are guite expensive, even with the discount. All Boden gear lasts years IME, so the cost per wear is better than cheaper High Street or supermarket trousers that only last a few months. HTH Smile

Thanks all, will give the Boden Richmond's a try and those M&S ones too. The Boden tweed ones are a bit out of my price range but there are some on eBay at the moment so might try that!

Maybe I should just stick with dresses...
