Can a seamstress do this?

Take up a dress from the shoulders? The body of the dress is too long for me, and the waist sits nearer my hips. Pinching up the shoulders makes it so much more comfortable.

Would a seamstress be able to chop it very slightly at the shoulders to make the body shorter?

Though I imagine she'll tell me to go and whistle as I need it for Sunday

Can a seamstress do this?

I think mine would be able to do it - she has done some extraordinary alterations for me in the past, including something similar for the shoulders in a long dress. The timescale will probably be the problem, as you suggest...

Thanks @Giggorata. Unfortunately I only know of one professional seamstress in my town and I'm not actually sure how good she is. She's done basics for me, but I asked her to to adjust something once which also seemed quite straightforward and she talked me out of it. I kind of got the impression she couldn't be bothered!

I can only ask.

Yes a decent seamstress should be able to do that for you. I've got a fairly short body and have had to have three dresses taken up on the shoulders.

We do this alteration a lot - it depends on the difference between the front and back pieces, if you see what I mean. If they'll match up again then it's not a hard job - but getting it done for Sunday would be a big ask!

Yes , that should be doable . some places to a faster service for extra cost .

She's told me I can pick it up after 1pm today Smile
