Styling this sapphire blue dress (wedding guest)

Looking for ideas on how to style this dress that I've fallen in love with for an upcoming wedding (my brother's). It's a single venue, private country house/estate sort of thing. I love the striking colour and unusual neckline.

Given the neckline I'd say no necklace but a striking brooch OR earrings?
Other jewellery?
On the head incl hair style? (I have long very dark brown hair)
Shoes/bag?

Looking forward to hearing your ideas, thank you Smile

Bronze accessories I'd say.

Would you stretch to a stole?

MadMaryBoddington · 30/08/2018 21:02

I’d go for a bright contrasting colour, like chartreuse or coral for shoes/bag.

Statement earrings. No necklace.

Gold shoes and gold dangly earrings.

Lovely dress!

Bloody lovely dress! I had a similar style in olive green a few years ago. Gold earrings (big ones).

JudyGrandChamp · 31/08/2018 11:30

That's gorgeous!

I like the idea of bronze, but gold would work. I'd personally go with longer, but delicate earrings and a cuff on one arm, given the neckline is asymmetric. Something like this, in gold: www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-rose-wire-cuff-rose-gold/p3443667

Gold sandals and I love the idea of a (fake fur) stole. Or a cream cashmere wrap: www.yoox.com/ch/46583724IV/item#dept=women&sts=sr_women80&cod10=46583724IV&sizeId=1&sizeName=

I would go with a hairdo that keeps your hair off your neck, so as to display that lovely neckline. This one is really easy, I've done it for a wedding before: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoX9C_U5abs. Or this if your hair is really long: www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6zU-TWDQWY

Thanks for the fab ideas everyone!

I'm going to start looking for a faux fur stole, that sounds fabulous.

Gold was going to be my go-to (and probably the easiest to find, I've already got half of what I'd need) but I'm going to try to gauge the effect with all the colour options and see what makes me feel good when I try it / look at it together. I know I love coral, I've never "done" chartreuse before so will need to suss it out...

You've convinced me to go for long earrings rather than my initial thought of a brooch and just little studs for the ears.

I love those you tube tutorials (just got lost in a rabbit hole there!!) - in fact I've used The Little Things tutorials before for a wedding hairstyle. I've got a stylist booked for stress-free prep this time.

Thanks again everyone Smile

Oh and thanks for complimenting the dress. I love it but was so worried people would say it's not nice and find something else - but then this is S&B not AIBU so guess I'm safe 😂

I love that dress!

Hair up with something nice in it that coordinates with your jewelry

I'd do dangly earrings but if you've got a lovely brooch already, that would also look lovely (I don't have a nice brooch, so I'd have to buy one)

TheDowagerCuntess · 31/08/2018 20:44

Lovely dress!

I'm just going to put it out there and suggest silver or pewter jewellery - only because that (gorgeous) colour is so obviously from the cool colour palette, that I think silver might go slightly better (and silver shoes).

Not saying gold wouldn't necessarily look good too, if you're able to pull together an outfit with things you already own.

LadyB49 · 31/08/2018 20:48

Fab dress. Dev hair up.
And I agree with silver or pewter accessories.
I'm jealous !!

ICantFindAFreeNickName2 · 31/08/2018 20:51

That's a gorgeous dress, do you mind me asking where it is from ?

Wondermoomin · 31/08/2018 21:02

Silver sounds good - it's on the list to try as well now.

ICantFind thanks, and of course that's ok, it's Gina Bacconi.
