Cheap glasses frames online?

I have always bought one (maybe two - ooooh!) pair of frames from my optician and that's been it. Recently though I have been admiring some other glasses frames (which is to say I've been watching women with trendy glasses on my instagram stories and envying their spotless interiors, and their array of stylish eyewear) and wondering whether I might buy another couple of pairs from online. But I have a few questions.
Where do other people buy theirs from?
Can you do it if you have a ludicrous prescription? Mine is -5 so will I still have to pay through the nose for thinning etc meaning my cheap frames will still cost a fortune?

If you need your lenses positioning such as to counteract astigmatism I've heard they aren't recommended, or if you have a complicated prescription. I'm not sure about yours .

I'd never buy online even if they're cheap because I always need mine adjusted due to tiny head

I've bought from glassesdirect several times before. Not sure what the cost of having the lenses thinned is, but you could always go through a mock order to cost it up.

They also have a home trial so you know what you're getting before you buy.

Eyewearbrands is a sister company and they do designer Frances. DH has bought from them with no problems.

I recently got a pair from there and I'm thrilled with them. I would never have picked these frames if I was paying high street optician prices cos they're "on trend" and I would be afrai e they would date too quickly. But for what I paid for them online, they're brilliant!

Mine are -4 and it was an extra €30 to thin them, but they also came with the anti glare coating included.

Go to asda. Their opticians thin down the lenses as standard and don't charge extra for doing it. Think they are the only high st optician who do this. I recently bought mine for £45 per pair and I am ridiculously short sighted. Got a pair of prescription sunglasses for £45 too.

I’ve used glassesdirect several times too. I wouldn’t use them for my varifocals but for single vision and sunglasaes they are great.

There are often deals on grouping to make it even cheaper too.

I've picked up a few pairs from Specky Four Eyes and really pleased with quality and service - they were around twelve quid a pair! Great to have spares in work and handbag. Can't comment on prescription strengths as mine not too strong.

I've used Zenni Optical for years - simple prescription, less than £15 per pair including sunglasses. Still getting compliments on my latest pair after a year.
