What jeans should a curvy shortarse buy for A/W?

Finally no longer pregnant, more or less back in my old clothes and thoroughly sick of jeggings and skinnies. What style of jeans should I buy for A/W and can anyone recommend a brand? I'd like to dip a toe in the high waisted/straight leg waters if I can find a flattering pair - I'm 5'2" with lots of hips and arse.

Willing to pay north of £50 for a pair that flatters and wears well, but not over £100. Canst advise, style Mavens?

No idea but I’m lurking because I need some jeans too.

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 29/08/2018 10:14

Trend pieces are saying wide-cut high waisted... Really? Is it me, or is even the model barely pulling these off?

Oh lord those things are hideous. I loath skinny’s but if that’s the alternative Shock

carbuckety · 29/08/2018 11:12

I'm similar height and finding straight crops are looking good to me. Trying lots on but not buying yet.

I've seen these on lots of Instagram posts and I do really like them
straight crop

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 29/08/2018 11:27

Oh, I could go straight crop. Chilly ankles though (although on me straight crop are probably just... Straight).

How's the fit on &otherStories?

I haven't tried them on but I haven't seen anything anywhere to suggest they are not true to size. I'm very tempted

0teaandtoast0 · 29/08/2018 14:42

I'm 5'2" and curvy and have finally moved on from skinnies. I'd recommend either a slim fit or straight fit - surprisingly M&S do some decent ones, or try UniQlo.

MrsMarigold · 29/08/2018 15:33

Is there somewhere where you can get a personal jeans shopper that isn't prohibitive.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 29/08/2018 17:16

Another curvy 5'2 person here - I've gone for a couple of pairs of Levi straight leg. They have a high waist and I've worn them both full length and rolled up. They still feel a little bit alien after so long in skinnies, but I think I'm pleased with them.

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 29/08/2018 17:23

MrsMarigold, I'm in London, so I could try hitting the department-store personal shoppers. I kiiiiind of feel a bit too old for Topshop, but also a bit too young for John Lewis, tho? (I'm 34.) Maybe I'm being unfair to JL.

Thanks Remus, checking out proper old school Levi's sounds like a good call.

It might be worth a trip to John Lewis if you're in London. The branch here still has lots of pairs of Levis in the sale, for about £25 each!

SpeckledyHen · 30/08/2018 14:02

NYDJ are good for curves and come up in eBay frequently . Might be a bit too old for you though . Sold in JL .

butlerswharf · 30/08/2018 14:06

Gap has a style of jeans called curvy so I'm guessing they are specifically cut for curves. Worth a try

bonzo77 · 30/08/2018 14:09

Wembly designer outlet has loads of jean shops. Might be a good spot for comparison shopping.

sittingonacornflake · 30/08/2018 21:12

I quite rate Next for jeans at the mo. They do all manner of "sucky in lifty up" type jeans. I'm wearing a pair of their "360 stretch" and they are very flattering on my size 16 wobbly arse. The 360 ones are priced just under £50.

MrsMarigold · 03/09/2018 14:35

QueenAravis, I'm also in London maybe we should go together.... I tried on nearly every pair of jeans in topshop and they were all hideous.

AmabelleOnabike · 03/09/2018 14:46

I bought lovely Levi's this summer (though I am taller but curvy). I have never suited Levi's so new styles maybe? Worth a look anyway, these are the most flattering jeans I have bought in years.

MrsMarigold · 06/09/2018 22:14

Thanks went to Levi's on Regent Street, awesome shop assistant and now own some great jeans

Waltzingmatilda65 · 06/09/2018 22:17

Try NEXT 360. I am a tall fatty so got Long but look good and lovely and comfy.
