Reading glasses!

So I’ve had reading glasses for a while but at my last eye test was told I am now a bog-standard +1 in both eyes. This means I can buy cheapy reading glasses from anywhere instead of needing a prescription. Which should be good news. But I can only find horrible plasticky things on mass sale (without going to an optician). Bearing in mind I do a lot of public speaking in a job for which I have to look fairly smart, are there any reading glasses out there that aren’t totally plastic and frumpy?

I got a fab pair from Sainsbury's (Foster Grants I think). DH got some really nice ones from our optician who just keeps a box of the basic +1 etc at reception - they were £30, so more than mine but not crazy price). Also nice gift places here that sell jewellery and scarves etc often have a small selection.

I got mine from Anthropologie. They were £50 but the exact shape I'd been looking for, and unable to find in Primark ( where I'd bought all my previous glasses Blush)

Thanks. Those Anthropologie ones look lovely. Will have to nip in next time I’m near a shop. I don’t want to spend that much online without being able to try them on!

Money Saving Expert website has a Cheap Glasses page. I once got a few pairs of designer glasses fitted with new lenses through an offer when my prescription changed.

Cost about 30.00 to change both pairs.

Reading glasses are fab, you can get them in so many lovely colourful designs. I only wish glasses for short-sighted people were so interesting!
