I’m finally embracing my grey (roots not coloured it for 3 months )
I’m loving the v light silver colour(at least 90%grey),but the highlights I’ve had to help blend it keep turning yellow!
I’ve tried different purple shampoos but they don’t work that well.
Is there such a thing as a grey toner I can use or any other advice?or do I need to keep going back to hairdressers?
Thanks

A good purple toner used with peroxide should work but I'm not a hairdresser so bumping for you.

You should use your purple shampoo & then use a purple conditioner as well. If you leave it on for a while before rinsing it will make a difference. Smile

Fudge shampoo is good. Leave it on a few minutes. The yellow is inevitable sadly

Baumederose · 28/08/2018 19:41

It's very easy. Mix one toner with two parts developer and leave on for about 10 minutes. It will go purple. It's supposed to. You don't have to live with yellow!!

Don't know how to make them clicky but the first is the developer the second the toner.

I bleach my hair and whack a toner on after bleaching and then about once a month. And use purple shampoo. I don't have any brassy yellow. Ever :)

I'd put it on all of your hair to get an even tone across the hair. It's an ash tone so it will enhance the grey as well.

To be fair, the worst thing that could happen is a lilac tinge for a few washes if you leave on too long. And if that happens, just wash with either an anti dandruff or clarifying shampoo (Or washing up liquid if desperate).

The toner isn't permanent. I find it goes lilac for one wash so I do it at night and then wash again in the morning.

It's very easy and it gets rid of all the yellow. Make sure you apply in sections like you would hair dye. You want to make sure all the hair is evenly covered.

I have short hair and one toner (mixed) is enough. When my hair was longer I needed two.

Really helpful.thank you
How long do you leave on for?

Purple semi perm hair dye (directions violet) mixed with (any) white conditioner.

Baumederose · 28/08/2018 21:12

Up to 20 minutes. I leave mine about 10 to 15 but you'll need to see how long you need. The more yellow it is the longer you need to leave it on for.

It's the balance between too long (lilac) and not long enough (yellow tinge).
