Interview clothes help

I’ve got an interview coming up next week- have been a SAHM for nearing 10 years so no smart clothes to speak of. The job is customer services for a publisher, so basically admin (no meeting clients). Do I need to wear a jacket or would smart trousers & shirt be ok? Don’t have much money to spend (hence the need to return to work) so what brands would you recommend? Also I’m on holiday right now so will need to order online and hope it fits ok on my return. Think I also need shoes. Don’t really wear heels anymore so would smart loafers be ok?

I think your ideas are great, OP. Some good trousers, maybe black, navy or burgundy, with a nice shirt makes you look smart but still approachable. It's a comfortable outfit, too. Find something that makes you feel good and this will help you feel great for the interview.

Smart flats always look great, too. I like shoes that are simple but maybe with just a little embellishment. Accessorise with some understated jewellery (maybe just a necklace if blouse neckline allows or a bracelet) and a bag. M&S is my favourite place for these items; quality but not ridiculously expensive. I find their clothes wash well, too, so they'll see you through when you get the job.

Best of luck!

Thanks Brambleboo & good to hear I’m thinking along the right tracks. Hadn’t looked on M&S yet.
