H&M sizing

orlandobbb · 28/08/2018 12:15

I am about to order something from H&M and wanted to check the sizing. Is a 12 an actual 12 or do they come up small and is medium a 10-12?

Ha. It depends what you’re ordering. I’m a size 18 and I currently have two dresses that are size 8. I’d do a variety of sizes tbh.

I range from a size 12-20 in H&M! They're the worst on the high street for sizing!

lenalove · 28/08/2018 12:21

They come up stupidly small... I'm a 10 in literally every other shop but frequently buy 12-14 in H&M

Realise I didn't answer your Q, but I mean with H&M who knows 🤷‍♀️

AFistfulofDolores1 · 28/08/2018 12:24

As far as I know, H&M have recently standardised their sizing (if that's even possible!) with the rest of the UK, so that a 10 is now a UK 10, and not an 8 as it once was.

i think they changed their sizing recently. maybe their website has some info.

Trinpy · 28/08/2018 12:33

They have changed their sizes recently and there is a size guide on their website. However I ordered something from there about a month ago and ordered a new size 6 as I was previously an old size 8; when my order came they had anticipated that I would have ordered my old size so sent me a size smaller - size 4 - which was obviously way too small. It really put me off ordering anything else because I don't know which size to order now!

olderthanyouthink · 28/08/2018 12:53

It's all nonsense, I think you just have to guess and get multiple sizes.

AFAIK, the letter sizes haven't changed but the numbers have which is more confusing. I bought a top a size up because of the "new sizing" and it's too big so had to go back and get the same size as I bough a year ago.

I have H&M clothes in a size 10 and some in a 14, I also have a a jumper in an XS and one in a L so I could never order online. Sorry that's not much help except to say that the sizes are obviously all over the place (I'm a 14)

KateMcD451 · 28/08/2018 12:59

That was meant to say "some in an 18"

AwdBovril · 28/08/2018 13:03

H&M don't really do sizing... they just seem to sew labels on at random. Your best bet is either to go into the store & try it all on until you find domething that fits, or order a shed load of stuff in different sizes in the hope that something will, & send most if it back!

I tried on a 14 dress yesterday and it was tight on the arms - I'm a 12 or M in other stores. I have XS jumpers from there though.

mrsoutnumbered · 28/08/2018 14:09

Ive found their jeans better these days - I am a 14 and used to find even a 16 in there was too tight. But now a 14 fits me now.

misspops · 28/08/2018 15:14

I prefer their S,M,L ranges rather than 10,12,14 etc. A Small fits me fine (size 10-12) but a 10 or 12 in their other ranges is usually way too small!
