Hi all

I get married in a year and a half and need serious help sorting myself out for it. Youth is no longer on my side Hmm so any help on what I can do on the following please? I’m thinking stuff recommended like probiotics, vitamins, skin cream or just general ways to fix in the next year or so.

Main problem areas:

  • weight, need to lose about 3 stone Sad
  • skin, I get so many spots on my chin. The rest of my skin is dry and horrible all over my body
  • eyebrows, they are non existent
  • Hair, really thin since having kids

What a lovely picture I paint of myself!

You can easily lose 3 stone in a year and a half! I've lost 4.5 in 11 months. I firmly believe all "diets" work if you stick to them, so you only need to chose the one you want to do the most. For me low-carb suits me very well, I would recommend the bootcamp threads on here. A lot of people have said it can help with clearer, softer skin too.

I don't have any experience but a lot of people rave about microblading for thin brows. There are some horror pictures online so you need to find a good technician who will make it look natural.

I also read a lot about hair burst vitamins for bringing your hair back to life. I didn't really believe it at first as they are advertised a lot on reality stars on instagram but there independent reviews are actually very good! Expensive though.

I've tried the hair, skin and nail vitamins from Perfectil and I cant say I can see a difference but I am crap at taking them. You could try child's farm moisturiser for the dry skin.

You have plenty of time to lose weight if you start now.

Get the MyFitnessPal app and start counting your calories. Perhaps aim to lose 2lbs a week for the first stone and then slow down to 1lb a week for the final stone. Running really burns a lot of calories once you start doing a reasonable speed/distance, so why not start with the Couch to 5k programme? There are lots of support threads in the exercise/weight loss boards.

Cut right down on sugar and alcohol, and start drinking at least 2 litres of water a day.

Wear SPF 50 every day and a rich moisturiser in the evenings.

Oh and for dry skin on your body, if it's just dry and you don't have a skin condition such as eczema, I recommend dry brushing for a few minutes before you go in the shower and then using a rich body moisturiser afterwards.

I would recommend getting your thyroid function levels checked Smile

My dry skin disappeared when I stopped using shower gel and started using Faith in nature soap (not expensive). It was a great side effect of trying to cut down on packaging! And yes - mfp works too - try to clean up your diet a bit, drink lots of water, get enough sleep.

@PatrickMerricksGoshawk was about to say this. Also check for hormonal imbalances, they are well known to make your skin go crazy

Definitely dry body brush. It only takes a few minutes to do before you jump in the shower.
