Eye shadow fallout solutions

I like to wear eyeshadow most days. Nothing too heavy - however I find that no matter what i do I have eyeshadow under my bottom eyelid. I’ve tried eye primer (urban decay). I’ve tried fixing spray (nyx and revolution brands). I’ve tried minimizing the shadow and I’ve tried making sure the shadow is well blended. And still it appears. All help is appreciated !

The MAC eye primer is fabulous. Are you maybe putting it on too thickly?

Inkspellme · 27/08/2018 23:17

That’s what I thought and really reduced it but still it appears. Maybe a different eye primer might be worth a shot.

What eyeshadow are you using?

Inkspellme · 27/08/2018 23:47

Usually Urban decay, inglot or Mac.

Oh okay....

Have you tried too faced shadow insurance eye primer?

Too faced shadow glitter glue primer - some people use this for eyeshadow. I havent but there is a different way to put this on.

Mac paint pot (in colour nearest to your skin )as base then powder shadow on top?

Thanks for those - the glitter insurance one looks like what I’m after even though I don’t wear glitter or shimmer shades. Will try it and see!

You need an eye colour stick not powder, I really recommend the range from The Body Shop.

Ollivander84 · 28/08/2018 06:31

Have you tried applying the eyeshadow with a damp brush? Dampen with Mac fix plus

Inkspellme · 28/08/2018 08:24

Mmmm...I tried an eye color stick before and didn’t like them. And I would hate to look at my lovely eyeshadow palettes and not be able to use them. I’d rather try to solve the problem and enjoy them. Thanks for the opinion though - I appreciate the help.

Haven’t considered a damp brush before. Dampened with the fix plus though not just water ? Thanks.

Do you tap and blow the brush to get rid of excess powder before applying?

You could also apply eye make up before your face foundation, so you can wipe away the excess. I do this when I use some really glittery eyeshadow I use for evenings as nothing seems to stop it ending up down my face.

Ollivander84 · 28/08/2018 09:23

You could try with water, I do like the fix plus though! There's a dupe somewhere if you google fix plus dupe, I'm sure it's Superdrug

I actually don't rate urban decay because I find there's a lot of fallout.

But generally, I don't have much fallout. I use a creamy primer (any brand for me has worked), I very gradually build up so on the first and second go there is hardly any product on there. Always tap the excess and blow. If I am doing heavy eyes I do eyes then face. You can also put those white under eye mask things on to catch fallout.

Thanks for all he tips - I’m going to work my way through them to see what helps. Something is bound to! I’ll also stick to inglot for a bit to see if it is urban decay fallout.

The only eyeshadow palette that I use on a daily basis is Sweet Peach by TooFaced and I adore it but...it gets some fallout. I tried an eye primer from Benefit, which I got as a free sample but it's only so-so and I looked further. I got a translucent powder from Virginic -> virginic.com/collections/powders/products/translucent-botanical-face-powder and it does a trick! I use it both as an eyeshadow base and to set my makeup I have no idea how it works but it works!

cut a cotton wool pad in the shape of your eye then put under your eye when putting on eyeshadow and it will catch the fall out
or do your eye makeup first then face and you can get rid of the fall out that way and it wont ruin rest of your make up
