Makeup.... all or nothing

Please tell me it isn't just me. I either have full face makeup on or nothing. I am at the age where I need to wear makeup to avoid the "just dug up" look but most of the time I cant be bothered to apply the works. Is there anyone else like this? If you do just use a few products what products do you use to make yourself look more polished??

I definitely recommend looking at videos by Lisa Eldridge. She has a few tutorials of 'no-makeup makeup' and minimal makeup Smile

Concealer, powder, few swipes of mascara, nude lipstick. A bit of bb cream and an easy eyebrow "mascara" thing if I'm looking really ropey or need the eyebrows for the outfit. I do have a good skincare routine though and I think that really helps. My routine (skincare and make-up) only takes about 5 minutes though!

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 24/08/2018 18:19

Under eye concealer, bare minerals complexion rescue, stuff on brows and mascara. All in under 2 mins! I can't be bothered with a full face of makeup unless it's a really special occasion and then it's not that different Grin

Ellapaella · 24/08/2018 18:20

I'm the same. When I have a tan in the summer I don't wear foundation and I think o actually look better without any eye makeup if I'm not wearing foundation of that makes sense. I just fill my eyebrows in and have a touch of mascara but no eye shadow or eye liner.

Nomad86 · 24/08/2018 18:44

I use BB cream and a tiny bit of cream blush. Takes under a minute and makes a big difference.

Whatififall · 24/08/2018 18:57

Same. When I have to be up early for work I just can’t be bothered.
I’ve had a couple of days off and been posting online, I’ve received so many compliments from colleagues that I think I must look undead in the office 😂

Sitranced · 24/08/2018 19:03

Day to day I only use mascara and blush. A little dot of concealer on a blemish if needed. Takes less than a minute and helps brighten my face without having to do a full face.

mathanxiety · 24/08/2018 21:02

I never wear a full face but I always wear something.

Moisturiser (Shea Moisture)
A product by Bliss called Instant 'Tint'stant that makes me look very slightly tanned
Concealer for a few red patches (Tarte)
Eye shadow (Cover Girl - grey/beige palette)
Mascara - Bliss 'Thickety Thick'
Carmex lip balm (winter) or Smith's Rosebud salve (summer)
Lipstick occasionally - today Elf 'Ravishing Rose', a raspberry sort of red.
More Elf on eyebrows - a dark brown

Takes me approx 5 mins.

mathanxiety · 24/08/2018 21:03

And an eyeliner - dark grey (the brand has worn off)

Racecardriver · 24/08/2018 21:04

It's only foundation, blush and a lick of mascara and lip gloss. OK, if you have really bad skin you might use a concealer as well. Surely it duesbt take that long?

specialsubject · 24/08/2018 21:30

what age is makeup necessary to avoid 'just dug up'? have I missed another memo that men dont get?

mn bleeding obvious disclaimer - wear if you want. but for you and you only.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 24/08/2018 21:36

My daily 5 min: foundation, eyebrows, mascara, lipstick. That’s it unless I have a) a huge spot or b) want to do something more fancy. I love makeup and have heaps but minimal eyes and colourful lips are my daily look.

Peoplemaynoticeus · 24/08/2018 21:43

In the summer- fill in brows with a little powder, mascara.
Otherwise- bb cream, brows, mascara and blush with lip gloss.

foxtiger · 24/08/2018 21:59

This used to be me. Recently I have discovered that I look OK with just primer or tinted moisturiser, eyeliner, mascara and red lipstick.

GhostCurry · 25/08/2018 05:39

I’m forever chasing the magic skincare routine that will negate the need for any kind of ‘base’, but until I find it I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser.
But I dye my own eyelashes and eyebrows, and this makes a huge difference. I can do the moisturiser and a little lip colour and I don’t feel bad leaving the house like that.

CountFosco · 25/08/2018 06:33

I'm nearly 50 and never wear makeup. CBA and since I'm a scientist the majority of my colleagues wear nothing either. Because I'm used to looking at bare faces I find when I go to places (like the hairdressers) where the majority of women have makeup on I find it quite jarring, I see the makeup not the person. I understand that the reverse is true and a lot of women think of painted faces (and dyed hair) as the default and bare face and grey hair as 'wrong' but it's just what you are used to.

DeltaG · 25/08/2018 09:09

Second Lisa Eldridge, love her!

Isleepinahedgefund · 25/08/2018 09:43

I’m a bit all or nothing about makeup as well. I love makeup, but I don’t need or want to wear it every day. I CBA with a no makeup makeup look (which takes longer/ more products than a full face, go figure!), I’ll just wear..... no makeup! I have good skin so that helps.

Sometimes I like to just even out the darkness under my eyes, to avoid people asking if I am ill ( allergies.... it’s allergies....), yesterday I used three products - a primer (Mac Prep &Prime yellow tinted one) a skin tone concealer (maybelline fit me, awesome stuff) under eyes to brighten the middle of my face, and a multi stick from H&M to give a bit of natural colour to my cheeks. Literally two mins, job done, out the door! I might have combed my brows too, that always makes for polished....

bigknickersbigknockers · 25/08/2018 17:18

Im 48 and my eyelashes are thinner than they used to be. I use a BB cream sometimes and mascara and eyeliner. Finish off the BB cream with a makeup revolution radiance palette and a bit of lippy. Most of the time I just cant be arsed though.
