Horrible haircut!

I got my haircut at my normal place yesterday, but I hate it. I'm at a loss for what to ask them to do to fix it though, so any suggestions would be very welcome please!

I wanted a simple bob cut, all one length because it's too fine and fly away for layers. The first hairdresser did exactly what I wanted, but then called the owner over to check because she's inexperienced. He just went at it with scissors without asking, and gave me the wrong fringe, and I ended up with a mini fucking Rachel. I made him change the fringe straight away, but it was quite a lot of hair, so the long bit starts behind my ear on one side but over my cheek on the other. He also hacked huge amounts out with the thinning scissors so it looks a right mess, like I'm trying to outgrow a pixie and haven't been to a salon in a year.

I'm not sure if there's any way to rescue it short of a pixie, but I don't have the money or time to get it cut often enough for a really short style. It can maybe go an inch shorter before hitting the hairline, but then I guess it will grow out weird. The photos are 3 different washes today, blow dried and natural. It doesn't stay in the blow dried shape for more than about 10 mins and doesn't hold product well :-(

Any ideas and pictures would be much appreciated! To make things worse, I'm starting a new job next week, and even worse it's in Paris, so I'm going to feel a double mess. Unfortunately I don't speak French, so can't easily get it recut there!

But look at your upper arms [heart eyes].

ilovebruuuceandbags · 24/08/2018 15:19

Maybe a non-side side fringe, so like a regular straight across fringe would be an option? Would save you having to cut any more off the actual length? I think a straight across fringe with the rest styled as in pics 1 & 4 would look lovely!

marsbarsandtwix · 24/08/2018 16:49

I reckon it doesn't look that bad, although Brew and sympathies, it's so annoying when they just give you unwanted layers this has happened to me a lot. If you're growing it, maybe just use a bobby pin to push the fringe under to one side and then grow it, find a NEW salon to go to in a couple of months time and then you'll be able to get it re-done hopefully how you want?

If it is the bottom right picture, I like it and it looks pretty. Not sure what the problem is.

Impulsesealer · 24/08/2018 16:54

Reminds me of Gizzi Erskines hair actually. I think once you’ve learnt how to style it then it would look great

Impulsesealer · 24/08/2018 16:55

Very French!

It reminds me of a pin I have saved in my hair cut board on pinterest. I have attached a screenshot (I hope). I think it is styled using a barrel thongs. I'm not much good at doing hair some maybe someone else could advise.

Did you pay them for it? It's lopsided and I can see why you aren't happy! I think it looks nicest in the top right photo but it is obvious that the lengths are uneven. Maybe even up the longer side and start taking biotin to help with hair growth?

Agree with pp though, you do have lovely arms!

Nevermindhey · 24/08/2018 17:32

Why don’t you dry it forward and sleeker?

MeandMoo · 24/08/2018 17:53

Totally get that perhaps it's not what you wanted but I do sometimes think Hairdressers have our best interests at Heart 😬
Looking at the Photos I think it looks Fun and Cute, even without seeing your Face I'm sure you look lovely!

I'd get some soft wax or texturing gum, run it through Wet then blow dry roughly using your Hands.

If you're really, really unhappy just be honest and drop your hairdresser a call.
Sure they would fix it for free if they knew you were so unhappy!

Good luck with the New Job! xx

Thanks everyone! I'm going to go to ask for a thick straight fringe and wait for the rest to grow. And thanks for the compliments, I wasn't fishing, honestly Smile

That's my normal hairstyle Impulsesealer. That'll teach me to try to shake things up! I work in a really male dominated environment, so try to avoid cute, plus I'm a bit old for it these days.

On the plus side, I just found this guy among the pages of my new colleagues. I don't think anyone's going to notice my hair!

I actually think it looks OK - especially where it is flicked out. I know what you mean about hairdressers though - haven't been for a long time because ALWAYS disappointed!

cricketmum84 · 25/08/2018 12:19

Oh wow your new colleague is lush! I bet he looks hot with a man bun... 😍

Totally missed the point of the thread 😂

marsbarsandtwix · 25/08/2018 12:22

I also fancy your new colleague Blush Grin

If you can’t bear it I’m certain I can get a recommendation of an english speaking hairdresser in Paris if you let me know the arrondisement. I work in the 7th though my (french speaking) hairdresser is out in yvelines where I live.
