Foundation recommendations

I’ve been using YSL touché eclat foundation and the buggers have gone and changed the formula so I don’t like it anymore.

What can I change to that’s similar? I’m very pale, I like natural looking and feeling. I don’t like the full coverage look so things like double wear don’t suit.

TIA.

I don't like full coverage but wear DW, I let it down with water and water-based moisturiser so it goes on quite sheer. They also do a 'lite' version though I prefer letting the normal one down.

Before discovering that I used Liz Earle skin tint, and Chanel's Les Beiges is also good depending on your skin colour.

QuantumPixies · 24/08/2018 14:28

That’s interesting about watering DW down. How do you do that? Sorry if that’s s silly question.

I didn’t know Liz Earle did make up. I’ll have a look.

Thanks!

Dior does the best pale foundations I've found. John Lewis currently has 15% off.

Chanels all come up a bit yellowy.

hi Quantum

I have a little acrylic pot (the stacker pots for travelling) and I mix 2 or 3 colours (I'm an odd colouring), add the same amount again of water-based foundation (I use EL 'clear difference' gel) give it a good mix and then thoroughly wet my foundation triangle thingy before dabbing on the mix & blending. I hate the feel of foundation so this seems to give a sheer but lasting result that's great for work.

Remembered I also use the Bare Minerals complexion gel, usually just on holiday though, where longevity doesn't matter so much.

Thanks all. I’m going shopping uk day so I’ll let you know what I end up coming home with. Really appreciate the recommendations.

Good luck, be interested to know what you choose.

QuantumPixies · 26/08/2018 20:37

I ended up with a dior one. Thank you! I was thrilled with how it made my skin look.

I know you've found one but just to add that I have super pale skin and tried loads of foundations but now swear by Charlotte Tilbury! Just in case you want a change in the future Smile

QueenoftheNights · 26/08/2018 20:41

I only saw this tonight but was going to suggest DIOR STAR IN IVORY.

I've used it for a couple of years now and love it.

Bineverywhere · 26/08/2018 20:42

Shiseido for those with a ghostly pallor.

QuantumPixies · 26/08/2018 20:48

queen that’s the exact one I’ve got!

bin I’ve used shiseido in the past and really liked it.

Mrs I keep looking at the beautiful make up in Charlotte tilbury. I may need to actually splash out on some.

For next time, Lancôme Teint Idole is gorgeous. Best foundation I’ve ever tried, except some By Terry one but that was about sixty quid! Shock

MrsTeach · 26/08/2018 20:52

@QuantumPixies it's so worth it! I was skeptical at first as I thought it may be a bit of a fad brand but the shade is brilliant and I don't actually feel like I'm wearing it! My one is called "magic foundation" in shade "1 fair" but they have also just introduced a shade "0 fair" which is even lighter!

QueenoftheNights · 26/08/2018 22:58

@QuantaumPixies I love it. sometimes I think it looks too yellow but the asst said the pink toned would be wrong and I agree. My 2nd best is Bobbi Brown foundation stick in porcelain.

@RatHammock Sadly Lancome foundation is full of alcohol. You can smell it. It will damage your skin eventually.

Shambu · 27/08/2018 09:49

Lancôme foundation doesn't go pale enough. Their lightest shades are quite beigey.

Shambu · 27/08/2018 09:50

Great news OP!

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 27/08/2018 09:57

I've used loads of different brands and coverage levels and my fav by far is Bobbi brown skin foundation.

Ollivander84 · 27/08/2018 12:33

Shambu - Lancôme teint idole in 008 is really pale. 005 isn't the palest despite the numbering system bizarrely!

Shambu · 27/08/2018 12:36

I've tried them. There's a beigeyness to the Lancôme pale colours just as there's a yellowiness to the Chanel. It's not that they don't do pale colours.

Ollivander84 · 27/08/2018 13:42

Ahh got you! Yeah I can't use yellow tones at all as they make me look ill Grin
I have blue undertones

CalonGlas · 27/08/2018 13:46

I really like Hourglass Vanish foundation stick (in Alabaster) - I want to like Charlotte Tilbury but the two makeovers I've had there, I've felt seriously plastered in slap when I walked out.

QueenoftheNights · 27/08/2018 16:37

Bobbi Brown Alabaster is almost white- too pale for me. But I don't like any of their foundation except the stick. They are all watery and very little coverage or thick and dry looking (long wear ones.)

Ollivander84 · 27/08/2018 20:04

I actually really love the revolution pro foundation drops. I have them on here, shade F1 (the palest!)
