Skincare help

I’m in desperate need of some skincare advice. I have quite dry, very sensitive skin, but also prone to a few spots and blackheads, and the pores on my nose look hideous. Also huge dark circles under my eyes.
I’ve use Astral moisturiser for years (purely because that’s what my mum used), and I find it really hard to find any kind of wash/cleanser that doesn’t dry my skin out horribly within a few days, so tend to just wash with water in the shower. I’ve tried several times to switch to new products, but I really don’t know what to buy, and end up wasting money as my skin always just goes sore and blotchy looking within a few days.
I don’t mind spending for decent products that will work, but how do I know what will work til I’ve tried it?
I don’t like to wear makeup (except for special occasions), and if I do wear it regularly, it just seems to make my skin worse.
Any advice on what I could buy/try? Do I have to be brave and go see the scary ladies in the posh bit at Boots?

I highly recommend Paula's Choice - I struggled so much in the beginning of pregnancy with all skin changes and nothing seemed to calm down flare ups, areas of dryness, etc. I tried a relatively straightforward skincare routine from Paula's Choice (I ordered it on Lookfantastic, but you can also order it from Feelunique.com or straight from the PC site!). They also have great guides as to how to use the products and in what order.
