I’m attending a wedding in September and am struggling to find anything to wear. So far have sent 5 dresses back and can’t find anything else I like! Have tried the likes of ASOS, topshop, Debenhams, Ted Baker, Coast, Self Portrait, Zara, Reiss, Selfridges...

I’m 29, size 10, hour glass. Think I’m struggling as I think things are too young or too frumpy. I’m not a fan of lace, maxi and wouldn’t want anything that is too ‘clubby’. Was think more tailored and midi length.

Please hit me with any shop or websites to try!

Have you tried Hobbs? Sounds like your budget would fit?

Also, would you consider a jumpsuit?

Rarfy · 22/08/2018 20:31

Have you looked on oasis? They tend to do things like that.

Lavish alice is worth a look too.

My go to wedding guest dresses are 50's style. I found them flattering ( I'm a size 12), comfortable, and good to dance in! :)

Coast have some gorgeous bits in... www.coast-stores.com/c/midi-dresses

Whistles? Definitely worth trying, but you have to try them on - sizes are all over the shop and stuff that looks crap on website can look great on. Same with Cos. The dresses look a bit odd on the hanger, but if you get one that suits you (bright colour) and dress it up with jewellery, it could work really well.

If you could squeeze into an 8... I have this and love love love it, it's so flattering. Could dress it up for a wedding

Thank you for all your suggestions. Will have a good browse this evening and will take a trip to Whistles at the weekend Smile.

I've just bought an amazing dress for a wedding from a website called ChiChi London. I'm the same size and shape as you, and about the same age, and they have some really fab ones.

They have some on ASOS too but if you order from site you get 10% off your first order so it was £59, loads cheaper than Coast and I'm hoping no one else will have it on (which is what happened last time I wore a Coast dress to a wedding, plus she was slimmer and prettier Shock)

What about something a little different. This place is great for hourglass figures and most are midi length. Might be a bit ‘old’ for you but with some killer heals it could look fab

I second Hobbs, but am really surprised that you didn't find anything in Ted Baker. Their stuff seems made for slim young women - I always look at their dresses and wish I had the figure for them!

French connection? Jigsaw?

lenalove · 23/08/2018 16:39

I'm also an hourglass size 10 and just bought a wedding guest dress from Lipsy - so flattering! Have always found their dresses to be good, have a look!

I'm loving this whistles dress which I think would fit your specs. Let us know how you get on!
