Are block heel boots....a 'mum boot'?

Trawling internet for boot ideas for my beloved flared cropped jeans. I hate having cold ankles so trainers are a no go with them in the winter. So far people have suggested a 'block heel' boot. Are the pull on stretchy leather kind with a block heel ok to wear with cropped flared jeans? I would like to get a nice decent quality pair of boots but don't want to look 'mumsey'! I am struggling - please help oh wise fashionable people!

If you think it looks mumsy it’s probably bang on trend.

NigellasGuest · 20/08/2018 19:58

Block heels are very in at the moment but NOT with a square toe

makeupmaven · 20/08/2018 20:08

I hope not, as I wear them and I am 23. :)

Flared jeans are back, so you'd actually be very on trend.

EnidButton · 20/08/2018 20:15

Depends.

It does though. The height, toe shape, texture, fastening, colour etc all contribute. I've seen some block heels around in the new season stuff that definitely couldn't be described as a Mum boot but I've seen lots of Mum boots that do have a block heel.

I'm not sure what the boot you describe looks like. Are they like those fabric 'sock' type boots that were everywhere last year? Because I really don't like those myself.

FoofFighter · 20/08/2018 20:18

cropped flared jeans? Confused

QueenJane · 20/08/2018 20:21

Mumsy? 🤔

NetVolume · 20/08/2018 20:26

I wouldn't think so. It's a very 90s look so is most likely seen as really modern.

My teenage daughter and her friends wear them.

NeonPinkNails · 20/08/2018 20:29

I would have said so a year or two ago but actually they feel very modern again. Not the sock type though, I can’t bring myself to like those on anyone.

LemonysSnicket · 20/08/2018 20:43

No, I'm 23 and childless and all I wear is block or mid heels.

Thin stilettos are far more ageing imo, although of course people can like and wear what they want and my opinion means diddly.

LemonysSnicket · 20/08/2018 20:44

And yeah, I hate the sock boots - they look cheap

mistermagpie · 20/08/2018 20:47

Cropped flared jeans with block heeled boots? Sorry OP, I'm no style guru but that sounds like a terrible outfit!

Bostin · 20/08/2018 20:54

Square toes are back in too.

TigerlilyMoon · 20/08/2018 20:56

Can we get a photo or a Google image of the look you were thinking of?? x

You can so long as they are tight around your ankle.

Racecardriver · 20/08/2018 21:02

So those are on trend.

rainydogday · 20/08/2018 21:03

These are my jeans, boden York cropped. I love them but to wear them in the winter!

I will not be wearing this trend. I think I would look like I was channelling Mama Mia. But I am 50 and not on trend so what would I know!?

WilburIsSomePig · 20/08/2018 21:07

Likewise lurcher, it's not a look for me.

rainydogday · 20/08/2018 21:07

I am 39.... but like the 'look' 😳

StorminaTCut · 20/08/2018 21:15

Im older than you OP & if it makes you feel any better, I bought these bottoms today, as they were £10 in Topshop, to wear when I get out of the shower nightclubbing Grin

They look really cool and in style.

rainydogday · 20/08/2018 21:42

Haha! I am the queen of 'track' pants.....to lounge in!

I was on the fence about the cropped jeans but actually I like those looks you've posted.

The boots are fine. The heels are too high and the tops are too tight to qualify as MN Mum boots. It looks fresh to me.
