I haven't worn DMs for 25 years...

But I'm considering these. I'm looking for leather or suede boots that will be comfy, weather resistant, and suitable for putting orthotics in. Not keen on much of a heel, but would be ok with these Fly ones as a different option.

What say you, MN jury?

I like the DMs! I've worn these for years in black or brown. Extremely comfortable. Also like these if you want/need more ankle support.

I love Fly boots, have a few with the wedge heel, but they are crap on th rain.
I bought Malky DMs in the sale, hopefully I'll have drier feet. .

I wear mine all the time! I I have 4 different pairs, I use the classic 8 hole (I have black and I also have an Arcadia pair- which is like a cherry red with black over polish) and I have patent doc shoes too. Boots fit orthotics fine, shoes are a bit more narrow so I struggle. I over-pronate so have orthos care of NHS Podiatrist. I cannot wear high heels so have a naice pair for going out in but I'm a bit goth anyway

I've had my DMs for knocking on 30 years. To be honest though, I don't think I'll buy them again. I gather the quality has gone right down and these days they seem to be just another corporate living off a long gone indie reputation. Even the Made in England line strikes me as a gimmick. When I do replace them (and the treads are almost worn down now) I'd probably go for Solovair but I'll have to save up first.

The Debenhams link isn’t working, Bagel. My friend has those Clark’s ones and they fell to bits, but if you’ve had them for years maybe I should think again.

Good to know about Fly bring crap in the rain, Coco, I’m in NI (like you, I think?) and we need to keep the trench foot at bay in our climate!

I think the problem is that I’m not really keen on the DM look for me. Other people manage to make them look fabulously cool (like the people on this thread, of course), but I worry I’d look like a git.

Just realised I’ve been very contradictory, I mean I like those specific DMs as they’re not too chunky.

I am in NI, maybe we should just be looking at wellies Grin
These are the ones I got , they are youths and have a lighter sole, go up to 5 1/2 and they were only £30, so I got them in black too Smile

Sorry, Stoat. Screenshot instead

Thanks Bagel. I think they may be a bit police officer for me.

What about these? These are leather DMs with shearling lining. No idea what I’d wear them with though, might they look odd with blue jeans?
