What time do you do your evening cleansing routine?

Do you do it right before bed or do you do it as soon as you come home from work?

I do it just before bed in the summer when I don’t wear foundation. In the winter when my face needs foundation I do it straight after dinner. It just makes sense to me to let your skin breathe as much as possible.

I don’t. Never have. Just wait until morning and do it then. The one thing I am often complimented on is how lovely my skin is. In my case less is more and I only use very very basic and simple cleansing balm (when wearing makeup) and water on a flannel (most days when not). Religious with moisturiser though

I couldn’t go to sleep with my make up on. In fact, I’ve only ever done it about 4 times in my whole life, I’m 52.

Always before dinner on work days. If I left it until bedtime I would forget/not be arsed. If we’re out on a weekend, then as soon as we get in. Even as a student when I was coming home at all hours, pissed, I never went to bed in makeup.

I’ve only ever cleansed my face in the mornings.... never done it at night.

Now that I'm addicted to skincare I am very good about doing it every night but discovered I only managed it if I do it when the kids are in the bath. If I put them in bed, stories etc and go back downstairs then I get caught up in cooking, cleaning and prepping for the next day and then by the time I go to bed I'm too tired to do more than a quick wash and moisturiser which isn't the routine at all.

I have forever been a girl who goes to bed in her makeup! However, three things:

  • I’m fed up of being unable to remove mascara stains on my pillows
  • I’m of an age now where my face is starting to look more tired - just recently I noticed the skin on my neck has turned crepey!
  • I have so many lovely products to use up, for example night creams and acid toners and so I really want to get into an evening routine as well!

The problem is that when it’s bedtime, I just want to go straight to sleep! Not go and wake myself by washing my face Grin

I do it whilst I run the bath for the youngest. Get my comfies on too. Oil cleanse and wash, then slap some serums on. Leave those til teeth cleaning time, then a nicer layer of moisturiser before bed.

There's something lovely about taking the day off, but I do wearing makeup daily. I couldn't not remove it. Even after lots of wines I take my make up off.

I do it after I put the DCs to bed. They can hear me pottering about for a bit upstairs which is good for them and I have the evening make up free.

LadyLapsang · 19/08/2018 12:15

Usually before bed, occasionally earlier if using a mask etc.

Roxers · 19/08/2018 13:11

Right them, I'm going to try it as soon as I come in from work Smile

I take my makeup off with the Liz Earle cleanse + polish as soon as I get in from work, I then go over this with Micellar water to make sure its all off then I leave my face until I go to bed. Just before I get in bed I go over with micellar water once more and then use toner. If you do it as soon as you get in then leave it your still going to get muck in your face just by sitting at home so you need to clean again before bed

Also, make sure any oil products are the last thing you use on your face. As it is well known, water doesn't absorb in oil it just sits on top of it so if you apply a oil based product then try cleansing/toning you are literally wasting your time
