Help! Work clothes needed!

Hello, I need some new work dresses, I haven't bought anything for ages. I work as a lecturer, so don't need suits, I usually buy several well-cut dark dresses and wear them with some nice shoes/scarves/ jewellery. This year, baggy dresses seem to be in fashion but I hate anything which looks like a maternity dress. I don't like 70-s style prints and maxi dresses. I wear size 10 and am not very tall. I looked at Cos (too baggy), Hobbs (too grannyish) and Jigsaw (nothing great).

I'm also struggling with the new trend for baggy dresses. I'm too large of nork so just look pregnant in them. I managed to get a couple of dresses from john lewis own range that were just plain v neck slim line dresses that might work?

Reiss

Following this. I’m desperate for some dresses that have shape to them and aren’t high necked. And also don’t cost four million quid.

Sleeves would also be good.

CLoset London have a fair few and there's a sale on

helterskelter99 · 19/08/2018 10:57

Baujken normally have a decent selection

ToManderleyAgain · 19/08/2018 11:39

Yes, check the Baukjen sale stuff - there are some which might work down to £35

Thanks for the ideas! This year there are just too many ugly clothes in the shops!

I’m not a Boden fan, but I have their Phoebe dress in navy and really like it for work.

MindBodyChocolate · 19/08/2018 22:41

Boden seems to have upped its game on dresses in the latest catalogue so have a look. Some good jersey dresses, including a wrap over one with looser sleeves which gives it a more modern look.

LockedOutOfMN · 19/08/2018 22:57

I love this from Zara, but possibly too informal for your work, OP.

This is nice too and actually works in real life on non model people.

Or this, also available in olive green.

This dress is very pretty too.

All from Zara.

WrongKindOfFace · 20/08/2018 07:29

What’s the sizing like for Closet London?

eurochick · 20/08/2018 07:48

Cos stuff often looks better in real life imo.

Boden and Massimo Dutti might fit the bill.
