Anyone wear M&S bras?

thenorthernluce · 18/08/2018 13:42

I’m boycotting M&S (boring story I won’t get into here), so if you wear their bras, what else fits the same way? I’ve only ever worn M&S padded plunge bras, or at least for the past decade or so, and so I’m flummoxed over where to start with other brands!

I wear a 36DD, with sad pathetic post-breastfeeding sacks that are fairly wide apart. My M&S bras give me great tits under my clothes, ie they lift and separate, and make them look rounder and fuller than they are.

This is my bra intervention size, BTW. I have a very broad back/torso, hence the 36. I’d rather order online for delivery rather than go somewhere, so I’d really appreciate recommendations for shops with easy delivery and returns, perhaps that carries a few brands? Cost-wise, £15-20.

Thank you!

Debenhams, John Lewis

dreamingofsun · 18/08/2018 13:58

i was very happy with my john lewis fitting a few years ago - bought about 5 great bras with the help of the lovely lady and now i know what size i really am (M&S ones were way way out), i have also bought some of theirs online in the sale

dreamingofsun · 18/08/2018 13:59

john lewis ones in the sale that is....not M&S

FinnJuhl · 18/08/2018 14:04

Big thumbs down for Debenhams from me. They looked identical to my usual M&S bras but just didn't support me at all.

Had to crawl back to M&S, who I had also 'boycotted' after several shoddy examples of Customer Service.

HoleyCoMoley · 18/08/2018 15:29

was going to say Debenhams, they have a wide range but John Lewis good too.

Cakefairy1978 · 18/08/2018 17:39

Bravissimo? All usual places are rubbish with m&s being the worst at measuring

Makegoodchoices · 18/08/2018 17:43

I get mine from Triumph, usually via Debenhams. Frankly I’m still pining for BHS.

I love M&S bras. Have a few from Calvin Klein as well that last forever

JaceLancs · 18/08/2018 20:00

Go to bravissimo and buy one fab fitting bra
Then look for same or similar on eBay amazon etc

Optimist1 · 18/08/2018 20:22

I, too, have stopped shopping at M&S. On a whim (and with few ££s to spare) I looked at Sainsburys Tu Clothing website and used my bra intervention size to place an order. I was very happy with the bra and have bought more from them since. All fit well, are pretty and launder well. I'm not sure if the stores stock all the styles in all the sizes, which is why I bought online; easy to collect and return if necessary.

LoniceraJaponica · 18/08/2018 20:31

I buy most of mine from M and S. I have a couple of Debenhams ones as well. I am a (post bra intervention) 32B Sad and find loads of styles that I can try on, and can invariably find something that fits well. Judging from similar posts it appears that I am not a typical buxom mumsnetter shape or size.

Bravissimo do great online sales. Get measured there first; you won't look back.

Bezm · 18/08/2018 21:21

Asda bras are made by the same company that makes M and S

Fstar · 18/08/2018 23:08

I love the m and s youthful lift bras, also these type from debenhams are fab

borntobequiet · 19/08/2018 08:19

Sainsbury’s bras are good and seem to match Triumph sizing, which works for me.

LellyMcKelly · 19/08/2018 08:28

Asda bras are amazing and only cost £7-£10. Having been a Bravissimo aficionado I can’t work out how Asda can do the same quality for a third of the price.

theunsure · 19/08/2018 08:33

I have struggled to find alternatives to M&S.
Am 32DD mostly and can only wear Balcony bras.
John Lewis had a brilliant own brand bra that they have now stopped. Was gutted, managed to get 4 before they were discontinued but now been forced back to M&S.
I have struggled to get a 32 in supermarkets sadly.

piefacedClique · 19/08/2018 08:38

I have always worn M&S but they stopped doing my usual twin back smooth line t-shirt bras. Tried matalan.... almost identical but actually more supportive and half the price! Worth a shot!

AsleepAllDay · 19/08/2018 08:41

Same size as you and the M&S non padded underwired ones got on my nerves - they go slack after washing and the wire is very cheap

Bendon is good so far

thenorthernluce · 25/08/2018 07:58

In case anyone is interested in an update, I went online and bought four bras from Debenhams (3 own brand, 1 Freya) and four bras from George (Asda). All 36DD, all some variant on padded with lace and plunge, or at least with a low connecting thingy in the middle of the two cups, as anything higher than a couple of cm irritates me.

The Freya and two of the Debs own were very uncomfortable. The fourth, their lace padded plunge (£14) is lovely but I think I need a different size as there was gaping at the top of the cups. But lovely quality and comfort, and the colour is a gorgeous deep purple (all my bras are colourful, aside from one nude to go under white tops). So even though they’re all going back, I would buy the plunge bra again if I could try on a few sizes.

On the whole, I was very impressed by the quality of the George bras. I ordered three t-shirt bras and one pack of two lace plunge bras (5 bras in total, then). The plunge bras were uncomfortable and felt quite cheap in quality.

But goodness me, the t-shirt bras were amazing!! Sooooooo comfortable and the quality made them feel they were at least triple the price (two cost £7 and one cost £4!).

I can’t believe the three cheapest are the three I’m keeping, as I’ve always spent at least £15 on bras before. So thank you to the PP who recommended George bras, as I would not have tried them without your suggestion. And if anyone out there is in a similar situation, give them a try, go on!

Yes i do - mainly t shirt ones (big size - 38F) but mostly have to order as they never seem to have the size in shops. Ditto I go to Debenhams and their gorgeous range (for big busts) is good.
