Hi!
Just about to start a new job where I'll be outside in the elements lots!

I currently have a North Face long padded coat (or my duvet, as I like to call it 😁) but it's not really that waterproof.

Can you lovely people recommend a properly waterproof coat please that'll withstand wet Sottish winters (and spring, summer and autumns too 😂)

I'm tall (5ft 10) and ideally it'd be a proper long coat, around mid-thigh length, or longer. Thanks!

There is a thread in S & B raving about Protected Species coats. 100% waterproof. We have just missed a 40% discount.

Lands End

Which also has some of the best customer service I've ever come across

Without a doubt Didriksons. I live on the Cornish coast and their coats are flattering, always commented on and totally waterproof ! I’ve tried them all. Better than Musto, Landsend, etc.

Biggreygoose · 17/08/2018 22:21

Are you being active outside? Or standing around a lot?

LizzieSiddal · 17/08/2018 22:26

Mine is a SeaSalt coat. It has a lifetime guarantee that if it isn’t waterproof you get your money back. I used it last winter, including a month in rainy Cornwall and love it.

BikeRunSki · 17/08/2018 22:26

Will your employer not provide one?

Sofabitch · 17/08/2018 22:27

I love love my seatsalt coat.

rainbowfudgee · 17/08/2018 22:28

Seasalt. Mine has a funky pattern and is totally waterproof

Jupiter9 · 17/08/2018 22:31

Kagool are waterproof.

Jupiter9 · 17/08/2018 22:35

Nice set of black wellies to go with it 😂

SunnyTikka · 17/08/2018 22:40

Seasalt. Definitely. A little pricey but I got mine from the outlet factory shop in Falmouth. They sell last season ones on Amazon as well.

Xocaraic · 17/08/2018 22:51

Another vote for Seasalt. My winter coat from last year did a stellar job (I'm out in the elements a fair amount too). They seem a little pricey but the costs per wear work out remarkably reasonable.

neveradullmoment99 · 17/08/2018 23:05

Seasalt. Great coats for the rain.

choppolata · 17/08/2018 23:09

Seasalt Janelle. Long, warm, waterproof and this season they have a purple version if you want to get away from black.

Thanks so much for all your replies!
Definitely lots to google.........I'll be working in a nursery with lots of outdoor play so I'll be providing my own coat 😁👍🏼

Seasalt Janelle. I'm 5' 7.5" and mine is long on me.

I just bought a MUSTO Suffolk coat off eBay, essentially it's a full length riding coat but it's quite stylish and absolutely waterproof, can't beat a musto in my opinion!
