I was going to say Stan Smith. Nike Flyknits too.

New balance
I've just bought a pair of Nike Air Force 1 - they've stopped making Dunks in a million colours so these are my replacements.
Converse
Vans

Watching with interest. Considering Nike Gazelles myself, but other ideas much appreciated.

Adidas Gazelles . . . . doh!!!

I've got Adidas Stan Smiths and Superstars. Love them.
I quite like the Courtvantage too.

I like the Nike internationalists. Does depend on whether you want the more "plimsoll" type trainers or more of a retro look.

I find gazelles a bit flat and Air Force a bit chunky.

I'd go to a big store and try a few. The fits are very very different.
