What sort of boots? Like literally hiking boots or normal boots with sturdy sole like DMs? Do you walk on fields or paths?

Hiking boots. I have several DMs bit i don't find them comfy walking long distance.

I have some Salomon ellipse boots for winter dog walking, they are just lightweight hiking boots. Go Outdoors /Decathlon /Mountain Warehouse are all good value for outdoors stuff.

You really need to go somewhere like Millets or Go Outdoors and try some on. Recommending brands or styles is difficult because everyone's feet and walking styles are different.
That said, a reliable less expensive brand is Regatta, fine for dog walking etc. For more serious hiking you need something more advanced such as Salomon, Meindl, Keen or Merrell.

Love Salomon but not at under £50 unless you find a pair in a sale. The heel fits me better than any other make. Merrell as a strong runner up brand. Again, probably only under £50 if you find them in a sale.

Decathlon will definitely have something at that price. I wear a hiking type boot everyday because I have dodgy ankles and they are about £14 in Decathlon! 😊

Most of the goretex type fabric boots are quite flexible and shouldn't rub too much. Get a few pairs thick socks and waterproofing spray. It does depend what fits your feet and sometimes a different insole helps. Don't underestimate it though you probably cover a lot of miles with your dog every day.

The fussy styling and insistence on pink/pastel trims annoys me about womens walking boots too but hey ho.

OP, I would recommend going to Cotswold Outdoors or similar and getting measured up. My walking boots are Salomon (and pricey) but I also have some Karrimor approach shoes which are pretty good and should come in under £50.

Another Salomon fan here. I have 9 pairs of Salomon trainers and 3 pairs of hiking boots. They're comfortable straight out of the box, well made, hard wearing and look good. I usually have to go up a half size regardless of the style. You won't get them for under £50 but Cotswold Outdoor have a sale on right now and there are some on offer, not that I was looking

Invest in decent socks too - they make a huge difference to comfort.

Not strictly a hiking boot but I wear Amblers safety boots for work (outdoor job); they are blissfully comfortable, fully waterproof and last for years.

Mountain Warehouse is reasonable - my last pair from there came from Trespass and were £35 and are incredibly comfortable. They do have pink trim, which I hate, but were £10 cheaper than the ones with blue trim! I've also bought quite a lot of outdoor-y stuff online from Sports Direct, which is incredibly reasonable although they sometimes take a bit of time to deliver. There are lots of walking boots on there at the moment.

Mine are Karrimor and I got them from a factory shop for about £24. They've been going strong for about 4 years.

Over your budget at £65, but these are the best walking boots I've ever had and I've paid a lot more for them in the past. No wearing in required, they are as comfortable as trainers and waterproof.
