Please recommend me the most amazing hairdryer in the whole world.

What are these dyson things like?

Parlux. Costs a bit but worth every penny

cloudtree · 15/08/2018 20:05

Parlux every time

ems137 · 15/08/2018 20:07

I got a dyson after being told by the saleswoman they're the best product ever blah blah. My husband lapped it all up and got me it for Xmas.

Yes, it's nicer than my old £25 Nicky Clarke from Argos but not worth £350 or however much they are now. I got a limited edition from John Lewis but it's only the colour and additional carry case that's different. I got told you don't need to straighten your hair if you use it which is why I bought it. My hair is not at all thick and not curly, I still have to straighten it!

cheesefield · 15/08/2018 20:14

What's a parlux?

Curvygurl · 15/08/2018 20:15

It’s a brand of hairdryer. Some salons sell them but they’re available on Amazon

userofthiswebsite · 15/08/2018 20:17

Those of you who are recommending Parlux, have you also tried the GHD and Cloud 9 hairdryers to compare?

I heard both of those are pretty decent but unless you've tried more than one it's hard to know how good 'good' is.

MyBeloved · 15/08/2018 20:17

Had my parlux for 10 years and still going strong!

southeastlondonmum · 15/08/2018 20:19

My Parlux is good but very heavy

chaosisaladder · 15/08/2018 20:53

What makes a parlux so good? I'm left handed and not that good with a hairdryer as it is Blush

WomblingWoman · 15/08/2018 21:01

Had a parlux and now own a Dyson.

Extremely pricey but I love it. Lightweight and powerful (great for my thick, long hair - probably a marginal benefit to people with shorter hair whose drying time is less anyway).

Worth 3x the price of the Parlux - no, but I'd but another if mine breaks without thinking twice Blush

BlindedByYourGrey · 15/08/2018 21:02

GHD is heavy and no different to my £20 dryer. Overpriced piece of crap.

WomblingWoman · 15/08/2018 21:04

Oh if you go for a Parlux you need the compact version - other models are very heavy.

What's good about them? Very powerful (but less than a Dyson), proper cool shot function and built to last (hence why so many hairdressers own them).

My mum has my old one (it was 5 years old when I got the Dyson) and 3 years on its still good as new so my mum says.

Daffodillie · 15/08/2018 21:16

I got a Dyson for Christmas and initially was very underwhelmed with it. However, it has definitely grown on me, I have thick wavy hair and it has made a difference to the condition of it. It also dries your hair very quickly!

My hairdresser had a go with it and was so impressed she went and bought one herself.

They are a bloody ridiculous price however.... not 100% sure they are worth it but it is a good hairdryer.

fruitpastille · 15/08/2018 21:16

I'm looking for a decent lightweight one for under 50 quid... My Toni and guy one is quite good but I find it heavy to hold.

FatCow2018 · 16/08/2018 06:32

Following with interest, also in need of a new one that can dry my mid length fine hair in under 10 mins

TheChineseChicken · 16/08/2018 06:35

I haven't tried a dyson so it's true I can't compare.

I like the parlux because it's really powerful. I have fine hair and it needs a good blast to dry nicely. I guess the dyson does this as well?

Pearlton · 16/08/2018 06:51

Place marking as I can empathise! I'm struggling with my hair dryer at the moment, I have had it a few months and I always use a diffuser as my hair is wavy but fine and needs the body.
The diffuser falls off the end of the hairdryer constantly! So it's really stop start.
I won't be paying for a Dyson at the mo. Always had babylis hairdryers before, last one lasted ages and was really good.

I have heard from lots of different people how good parlux are. I think I will go for one next time. It's interesting to know about the compact ones, thanks!

I'm researching whether to buy a new one, whether to buy a universal diffuser attachment from amazon and carry on with current hairdryer or whether to just get a new one.

I did read that Lee Stafford hairdryers which are fairly cheap, match up really well considering their price to much more spendy hairdryers:

SpeckledyHen · 16/08/2018 07:15

I haven’t tried a dyson but I’m more than happy with my compact parlux one .

Fayrazzled · 16/08/2018 07:21

I love my compact Parlux- people think I have thick hair but I don't- I've loads of fine hair- dries brilliantly.

GinIsIn · 16/08/2018 07:24

I have the compact Parlux too and it’s great. The Superdrug own brand hairdryer (pink, about £12.99) is surprisingly similar though!

WeeM · 16/08/2018 07:29

I have my eye on a parlux after reading about them on here. I’ve also heard Diva ones are good...anyone tried them?

Strongbeatsskinny · 16/08/2018 07:31

Another vote for Parlux it’s brilliant.

bourbonbiccy · 16/08/2018 07:32

I really like my dyson. It is lightweight ( I have arthritis so great for my wrists) it dries my hair in half the time so less damage to my hair. In general it just a great hairdryer .

guiltynetter · 16/08/2018 07:33

after hearing a million reviews about the parlux on here, i bought one and was so disappointed, i sent it back! just so you know not everybody loves them. i find my current hairdryer is more powerful and better than the parlux.

www.boots.com/mark-hill-salon-professional-hairdryer-10222445 it’s this one.

nicebitofquiche · 16/08/2018 07:35

I've just bought the Remington Air. It's £200 but I got it in the sale at Argos for £150. It's really good. Lightweight and it cuts the drying time. Cord is very long too.
