Please recommend me the most amazing hairdryer in the whole world.

What are these dyson things like?

Stain is lightweight, quieter than other hairdryers I’ve owned. Drying time is quicker too. Attachments stay on - every other dryer I’ve ever had, attachments have always come off when I’m using them.

Yes they’re expensive, some people love them, others think it’s a case of emperors new clothes. If you can afford it, get it, if you can’t, don’t put yourself into debt.

I’ve had mine for over a year now and am very happy with it

theredjellybean · 16/08/2018 07:39

I have a Dyson. Love it.
Light weight, dries hair in a third of the time on a cooler setting and makes a noise like light sabre when you turn it on and off... I often swish it about pretending to be a jedi Smile

Jammin3 · 16/08/2018 07:39

Yeah I don’t get the parlux excitement either and I’m quite the hairdryer snob. I have had a GHD for a good few years now and it’s never let me down

Loonoon · 16/08/2018 07:47

I am late fifties, so have been blow drying my hair for about 45 years and consider myself a bit of an expert. I sometimes use my DD’s Dyson - it’s quick but not quick enough to be worth paying the price they charge. I have a Parlux compact that cost about £80, it’s good but heavy. I have a Babyliss ( about £45) at our holiday home - it’s also good and at my mum’s house I have a £20 Remington that I picked up in a blow drying emergency at Argos. That’s also very good, a bit slower than the others but very lightweight

I have concluded that the blow dryer you use and the price you pay arent as important as technique. Good brushes, sectioning, product and using the appropriate nozzle attachments are the keys to a good blow dry rather than the make or cost of your dryer.

My only no-no for blow dryers are the little ‘travel’ ones that are shaped a bit like a duck without the long blowing tube you get with full size dryers - I find they get too hot and can make my hair very frizzy.

Loonoon · 16/08/2018 07:49

PS - just to add. I find the Dyson great for drying but not for styling. I can blast it to 80% dry with the Dyson very quickly but then I have to switch to a traditional dryer to finish it off and add volume and shape.

Parlux is brilliant.

I got a dyson for Christmas and was crap, not worth the money at all. Parlux is far better.

cloudtree · 16/08/2018 08:40

My parlux has massively reduced the drying time on my long thick hair. I despair when we go away and i have to use something else.

Six years on its also as good as new.

ElspethFlashman · 16/08/2018 08:45

I have a left of field entry - I bought it in a salon. It's called Create Images 3800 Pro (no I've never heard of it either) .

I'm pretty sure it's a brand only salons use, tbh as I can only find it now on various salon services sites.

But it's absolutely fab! Light and a huge amount of drying out of it. If you can find it, consider it.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 16/08/2018 08:49

Parlux here too, it's great. I find it dries my hair much more quickly than my old Remington one did. I love the look and feel of the Dyson but just can't justify the cost.

butterry · 16/08/2018 08:56

I have a Parlux compact and it's good, built strong and to last but I don't think it's any better at drying than my old Babyliss £30 one!

Jammin3 · 16/08/2018 10:46

Basically, to have a decent blow dry you need to find hairdryers with a high wattage. Salon ones will be between 2000-3000w.

Also consider ionic and ceramic features on a hairdryer - ionic is something most of us should be looking for to help reduce hair damage.

primoestate · 16/08/2018 10:51

ETI hairdryer for me.
Turbo stratos 3800
Great quality. Dries my very thick long hair super quick.
Anyone that ever borrows it buys one immediately!
Get online. Under £100 I think.
I've bought a few as gifts but had mine over 10 years. Still like new.

emma6776 · 17/08/2018 10:48

Parlux compact ceramic. You need to use the nozzles with a Parlux - makes a huge difference x

pilates · 17/08/2018 11:00

I love my dyson, light and quick which is definitely what I need in the morning.

MrsMarigold · 17/08/2018 11:06

Babyliss Power Smooth 2400 is very good, lightweight with a long cord and just over £30, my very thick fine hair is dry and smooth in 4 minutes

Mercurial123 · 17/08/2018 11:11

I have a Glamoriser and Parlux both are very good. I tried a friend's Dyson it wasn't great on my thick frizzy hair. It looks great but over £300 for a hairdryer is insane.

TheLastNigel · 17/08/2018 13:27

I have a dyson. It's good but not £350 good.

DozyDoates · 17/08/2018 13:30

I had a Parlux when I lived in the States and loved it. Really want another (with a UK plug!)

knicksfan · 17/08/2018 13:31

Parlux. I've had mine ten years and still love it

MinesaPinot · 17/08/2018 13:56

One I use at home is GHD Air but my travel one is a Babyliss Bronze Shimmer which is lighter and which I prefer to be honest.

Actually I've never had a problem with Babyliss dryers, and once the GHD gives up the ghost I'd happily get one of their Salon Pro ones.

YukonGold · 18/08/2018 19:16

I have a Babyliss Pro Powerlite which I love, super light and plenty of drying power, and not hundreds of pounds!

Marley45 · 18/08/2018 21:07

I’ve got the compact Parlux. Think it was about £65

SchnitzelVonKrumm · 18/08/2018 22:13

Parlux. Dries my thick, fine hair in a few minutes.

Pebblespony · 18/08/2018 22:20

Dyson here too. Love it.
