Classic style necklace?

I want a necklace with something symbolic for my children's birthdays and I saw this - goo.gl/images/YKiGn5. I'll be getting it made and probably spending a lot (for me) on it, so I'm looking for something timeless. Is this, do you think?

goo.gl/images/YKiGn5 sorry, link didn't work.

I think it's timeless but I suppose it's a very personal thing. It's a gorgeous necklace though and I'm very envious Envy.

Thanks. I've been humming and hawing about this for so long I've lost confidence in what I'm looking at.

It's very pretty. Whether it's timeless is down to you. Jewellery is surprisingly fashion-driven. I actually think you should look around for something that grabs you. Without intending to be rude, I think that stack looks like it came from the Accessorize counter, and if it's expensive, I think I'd look for something more distinctive. But feel free to ignore me.

I'm sorry to say, my first thought was the same as XingMing's.

It looks flimsy, and not like you've spent a lot of money on it. I'm not saying jewellery should look like that, but it's a shame to spend $£€ on something, and have people assume you got it in Accessorise.

In terms of timeless, I don't think this is quite it. But if you're looking for something symbolic to remember your children, you might have to compromise a bit.

I have a silver claddagh motif necklace with DCs' birthstones in it that DH gave me (he's Irish) - it's definitely more distinctive than timeless, but I don't wear it all the time - just enjoy wearing it when I do decide to put it on.

It's a gorgeous necklace Smile I think it's hard to say what will be timeless. The main thing is that you will love wearing it regardless of whether it looks a bit dated in 10 years time or not (not that I'm saying that style will look dated, of course!).

Thanks for the further thoughts. I am afraid of going for something "stylish" as I am never in fashion tend to steer away from fast fashion and trends, particularly for something I'll hope to wear for the rest of my life. I like that it's a bit more modern than a lot of the pieces I've seen so I'll keep looking for inspiration.
