Azelaic acid (Skinoren, Finacea) users

I currently use the 20% Skinoren cream from pharmacy2u. The instructions say not to use for more than 6 months. I have mild rosacea, with my main issues being enlarged pores and flushing over my nose which can get very bad in winter. The azelaic acid has an almost instantaneous effect of reducing the redness and I’d like to keep using it.
Is it unsafe to use or should I consider an over the counter one? I see The Ordinary make an azelaic acid cream but reviews are mixed and I haven’t liked anything I’ve tried from that brand.
Any suggestions or should I stick with the Skinoren?
Thank you.

I use Finacea, I think it’s 15%.

When the gp first told me to get it, I used it twice a day for 6 months. I did have a drastic reduction in my rosacea but I was also on antibiotics for 3 months during that period so that probably accounts for a lot of the improvement.

I still use the Finacea but now it’s more on an as-and-when basis, if I get any pustules. I’ve used it today actually. I have a bit of a flare-up, I think because I stopped using my trusty Aveeno anti-redness cream for a few days. Or maybe just stress, not sure.

Thanks, Mayfayner. I’ll see how it goes as we get into winter. I’ve still got a bit left in the tube. I recall you suggesting the Aveeno cream before. I’ll have to try it.

Blush I need to get a new product to be evangelical about!

I ordered a new IT cosmetics one so I’ll keep you posted 😂

Bye bye redness or something.
