Clueless about my hair.

Hi,

I am looking for some advice about what I can do with my hair. It has never been any other way than long. I hate going to the hairdressers so often my mum or friends give it a quick chop, even my DH on a not-to-be-repeated occasion.
I have been growing out my greys for over a year now and am desperate to have it cut. Ideally would like to get rid of all the dyed bits but not sure if having it that short would suit me. I am due to have surgery soon so I want it done before that or I will never have it cut.
Does anyone have any ideas? What might suit me? And what do I have to ask for. I know none of the lingoBlush

Thanks for taking the time to read

It looks beautiful and healthy. Have you ever considered online tutorials about cutting your own hair? I do this. Easier for longer hair like ours I presume.

I think you should say (roughly) that to the hairdresser. And think about anyone who's hair you've seen that you like. Very short?(pixie cut, crop) or longer, say just to the point of the old colour (a bob).
P.s you have lovely hair.

I also think your hair is lovely! How about having it shoulder length and shaped around your face? You’d still be able to tie it back but it wouldn’t be so long.

Something like this?

Sorry just realised you might want it shorter than that! Have a look online at some pictures of styles you think you might like. Then you could go to a hairdresser and discuss whether they’d work for your hair. Go for a chin length bob if you’re worried about going too short, as that won’t be so dramatic.

Thanks for the lovely comments.

I will probably end up doing that dancer, it depends on how brave I feel on the day. My worst case scenario is they give me some sort of old lady cut. I'm 38 and not ready to go that route yet.
I wouldn't dream of trying to cut it myself though. Then I would have no one to blame if it all went tits up. I like this sort of thing, I might just bout it in the hands of the hairdresser. On the plus side it'll soon be cold enough to wear hats most days.

Have just jotted down 'chin length bob' as a starting point.

Yep a chin length bob, or 'lob' long bob is a great look.
As for a sharp cut, like Anna wintour so it can be tidy.
Look on Pinterest for ideas. Bring these to a hairdresser and ask for a sharp bob. Good luck!

Graduated asymmetrical bob
The grey is lovely.
