Loosely curled hair - judge my pic pls!

My hair is normally worn poker really straight, well that’s how I style it! By the afternoon it’s doing it’s own thing!

I’ve a night out at the end of August, all of us mid 40’s! Have young kids so very rarely get out!

Anyway, I love the loosely tonged look. I’ve had a go, does it look ok at the back?

Husband is very helpfully saying he can’t decide whether he likes it or if it looks like it needs a brush🤷‍♀️🙈

Opinion please!

Many thanks

I think it looks nice
Did you do it yourself? You did a decent job

madja · 12/08/2018 17:19

Looks lovely Grin

OwThatsGottaHurt · 12/08/2018 17:21

Looks gorgeous! Great job if you did it yourself!

QforCucumber · 12/08/2018 17:21

All your waves go the same way, try alternating the direction of each one for a more textured look - other than that I'd say it looks lovely. Great for a 1st attempt

Shenanagins · 12/08/2018 17:21

Love it!

Anyonewhoknows · 12/08/2018 17:22

I think it looks great! Would possibly go a bit further just in case it drops out over the evening (or maybe that's just my hair)
Genius idea to take a photo of the back of your hair so you can see it yourself - definitely nicking that idea.
Is it how you want it to look? Have you used any products in it?

Anyonewhoknows · 12/08/2018 17:23

Oh and what did you use to get it like that? Just tongs? Can we see it from the front too? Obviously blank your face out. I really want my hair like that.

Zoosie · 12/08/2018 17:23

Yes I did it myself! So try to alternate the direction of the waves? Right! Exactly what I need to hear, will have another go!

Thanks 🙏

Done with GHD's

Will try to take a front picture blanking out face, not sure if I know how to!

If you want some volume at the root too tip your head upside down, spritz the root with hairspray, shake with fingers and turn back to normal will add some texture higher up too :) (i wave a lot haha!)

HelgaHufflepuff76 · 12/08/2018 17:34

I think it looks good. It's a very "in" style.

SanJunipero · 12/08/2018 18:06

It looks lovely, OP - I have hair envy!

Queenofthedrivensnow · 12/08/2018 18:12

I quite like it but you need to sort the direction. So you start on one side curling toward the back until you get to the middle then you curl from the other side going toward the back. Will look more pulled together

MelbourneClown03 · 12/08/2018 18:14

I think it looks really nice. I'd look at you hair, on a night out think "I wish I could get my hair like that".

beingthere · 12/08/2018 18:18

Nice colour also!

Zoosie · 12/08/2018 18:33

Thanks!

Will sort the direction of waves!

Sorry I can't get face blanked out on front picture

Very nice.

I’m going to be honest - it doesn’t look great. It needs another round of styling. Right now, it just looks like you flicked out the ends a bit, there isn’t much of a curl/wave in the mid lengths. The right side (near the brown door) looks slightly better as the waves look more defined. And it sort of looks like the bottom inch or so of your ends are still straight, so it looks a bit weird (the ends should be curled too). It sort of looks like an uneven half straight half wavy style, but in a ‘got caught in the rain’ way. Did you section off your hair in layers and curl it throughout your hair, or just the top layer?

Personally I would recommend watching a YouTube tutorial. It isn’t difficult to do but it’s a bit wordy to explain through text, so a visual aid will be much more useful. Essentially you want to section your hair throughout and curl each individual section. Every time you rotate the straighteners, you create a wave/curl. So I think you should focus more on rotating the straighteners to create more of a wave throughout the entire section of hair, rather than just near the ends.

hannnnnnnxo · 12/08/2018 19:17

Also brushing it through will give you more of that loose waves look, it essentially just blends out the individual sectioning and makes it look less styled.

Looks great.
