Warm winter jacket / parka advice please!

Hi wise mumsnetters,
Thanks to you lot I have been introduced to the Didrikson Parka..... so early summer I threw out all my old winter jackets and ordered the Lina in green.
However they cancelled the order, I couldn’t find anymore online at that time but thought it was end of season and I’d try again now.

It seems they’ve stopped making the Lina!!! Shock Im always late to the party Sad

So any help please?

I’d like a long warm jacket with a fur hood for every day dog walking and watching rugby.
Not black or grey.
Size 10/12.
Animal friendly - so not Canada goose, or down filled.
Preferably stylish :)

Thank you, I’ve looked online but am struggling to find anything I like as much as the Didrikson, loved the over sized hood too.

Probably a bit early for shops to be stocking winter coats no??

CruCru · 12/08/2018 16:37

What about this?

Mercurial123 · 12/08/2018 16:58

I got a vegan parka from North 66 in the sale a couple of years ago, it's an Icelandic brand and looks good and is really warm. I've taken it on winter holidays to Scandinavia and the Baltics and it did a good job keeping me warm.

Marking place as I’m also looking for one, with exactly the same criteria. I’d have snapped up the Didrikson in the first link but unfortunately it’s sold out in my size.

Nemesia · 12/08/2018 18:23

You could always look in the children's range, if you get the biggest child size (age 15) then it should fit ok.

Also following. Really like the parka London jackets but worried they might not be enough for a bad winter.

Thank you bingohandjob (love the name!) you’re a star.
I’ve not seen the fjallraven before and really like that, just spotted a lovely red one too..... green or red?! Decisions!!
I didn’t see the Nancy Didrikson one on their website, like it but that website isn’t in a 10 or 12 so might have a hint around.

Same as @iameessuraction re Parka London, does anyone know how warm and waster proof they are?

Thank you again, toddles off to go cost shopping....

Thanks @crucru but I really want a fur hood! Maybe slightly impractical with wet weather but I love a bit of (fake) fur!

Thanks @mercurial & @nemesia going to try both suggestions

Fjallraven kit is amazing if you can afford it (I can't quite stretch to it) and 66° North. That brand is everywhere in Iceland and I tried a parka on when there and it was like getting into the comfiest bed in the world.

bingohandjob · 12/08/2018 19:12

My fur hood on my Didriksons is brilliant in the rain (and snow) - it deflects it from my face and you just shake it off! I think the 'fuller the fur trim the better for this effect.

Barbour coats are no longer real down. Take a look at flannels sale. I've had some ludicrous out of season bargains from them before for Barbour and other brands as once something goes in sale they will keep marking down to 75% and sometimes even 90% off to shift it.

starsinyourpies · 12/08/2018 20:34

Worth looking at Barbour, they did this in navy last year and it is lovely and extremely warm. You may find one still around somewhere or they'll likely do similar for this year.

I've got a didrikson Lina in size 12 green that I bought last October that I'd sell, great condition, great coat. PM me if that helps.

dunraven · 12/08/2018 23:42

Didriksons Lina in Blue - I ordered one and there's an extra 15% off to make it £106! I hope my order isn't cancelled!

North Face Arctic parka is the bees knees. Mine is about to enter its fourth year and still as good as new

LuluBellaBlue · 13/08/2018 20:25

Thanks everyone, just ordered the Didrikson Lina in blue Grin
