Please give me some style advice for my wedding.

I name changed for this as I havent told anyone im getting married yet. This is my second time round and I'm a size 22 on top and 18 on bottom my waist is high my chest is large bit I have a belly. So Apple shape. I'm terrified to go dress shopping. Can.you help me with suggestions. I'm 45 if that helps.

Don’t be terrified! Many, many brides are your size and larger, and get suited with beautiful dresses.
Personally, I would keep things simple and classic second time in my 40s.

Yes I have seen that program. Would you go short as in tea length or long?

What style of clothing do you like best? Start with how you feel best, then find a version of it that fits your wedding. Don't start with the whole "Say yes to the dress" type thing.

I knew someone who found a white trouser suit (and it wasn't some 70s disco outfit) that looked perfect for her, and there was no doubt that she was the bride.

That is for your replies. I like skinny jeans and shirts. Or I love flowy maxi dresses. I guess I want something fitted around top and boobs then flowing down to skim my tummy.

Sounds like something a bit boho might fit the bill then if you like maxis? There’s a company called ModCloth which has some lovely, very affordable wedding dresses that are a bit different. Or even good old Monsoon? What’s your budget?

For a dress, something in Jane Austen/Regency style - empire line. They tend to be more floaty light than too heavy.

I just did a google search for "empire line wedding dress" and it was a picture that came up.

If it's the kind of thing you like, search for that and see what you find.

I'm in the US so will get different sites shown, so that's not much use to you for actually finding a dress, but it does give you an idea, hopefully.

There are thousands of dresses at all price points for larger ladies. Don't rush into anything.
I've just googled wedding dresses for larger ladies and looked on hitched and StillWhite. For my money the fishtail and mermaid styles look the most flattering. I get they are probably the antithesis of your style but choice fabric makes a difference.
I love that billowy one KissAss posted but the model is thin. The flowy material highlights her thinness.The effect on a plus size would be the opposite and would emphasise the fact you aren't a delicate floaty model.Obviously you need to wear something that is you but there really is masses out there especially online.

I really thought I wanted Jane Austen empire line for my dress but when I tried a couple on I just felt like I was wearing a nightie!

In the end I chose a dress with bodice fitted to my waist then A line skirt.

I agree with pp to find something you’re comfortable in. You really can’t bear going to try on loads of different shapes.

OP, make some appointments with wedding dress shops. Call them up and ask about what sizes they stock, and if you can find a shop specialising in larger sizes, so much the better.

Take a friend you trust with you, and just go in with no preconceived ideas and try on all different kinds of styles.

You might be surprised about what you like and what suits you.
