using salon dyes at home?

Could I buy the colourant and developer that my salon uses online? If so, from where? Would there be any differences to look out for vs box dye?

Can anyone recommend a light ash brown colour? Lighter than a Toni and guy level 7 (a mid brown)

Long story but I’m a bit embarrassed with my hair and my salon is charging a lot to even it out. It’s generally a light ash brown but I have blonde and mid brown sections, so it doesn’t look even. I’m hoping to be able to throw a salon ash brown on it to even it out, then go to a new salon and touch up my roots and get highlights.

Loads of places sell professional dyes and toners online.

I buy mine from eBay but there are lots of sellers.

I'd suggest buying a few different ones and seeing what you like best. Most have colour charts and a 7 is usually a dark blonde rather than a mid brown. You probably want a 6.

I bleach and tone my hair and use only professional products. I use wella koleston and some loreal. Wella have a huge range.

You'll need to buy the colour and developer to mix. Probably a 20% developer as you aren't lightening.

The dye will tell you the ratios in the instructions.

Thank you!!

Oh I see - I think Toni & Guy’s chart may be different? In Toni and guy, a natural level 5 is super dark brown and a level 4 is practically black. The level 7 and 8 were both shades of brown.

I recently had a root tint with them and I think he used a level 7 mixed with an ash high lift colour and my hair is a mid brown at the roots. The rest of my hair is lighter though. I’m not 100% sure as I wasn’t paying much attention but my hair looks like colour swatch did in his book

I do my roots and twice a year my hairdresser updates my balayage. Salon services stock the range my stylist uses but I find Amazon cheaper. Saves me a fortune Smile

@Lidlfix that would be the dream! I’m currently going to my salon for a colour refresh every 6-8 weeks Sad. What range do you use?

Wella Kolleston, my greys need attention every 4 weeks and I use 66/0 intense light blonde. This prevents me getting "banding" my own colour (at root line) is mid brown but greys do soak up the dye hence the lighter shade. I use a 6% developer and buy it online too.
