Primer that doesn't bring me out in spots

Can anyone recommend one, I don't exactly have greasy skin but primer always brings me out in spots. Also my chin is looking a bit red and I'm freckly so I just want to even it out. I hate a really matt look and am aiming for dewy. I'm 42.

What primers have you used?

My favourite for when my skin is feeling fragile is the Cover FX calming primer. It’s really soothing, evens and plumps your skin and works with or without makeup. It’s also not mattifying.

Primer is not for covering redness etc, it’s to help makeup stay on better - you’ll need a coverage product for that, maybe a B.B. cream or light foundation - I’d recommend Mac face and body. I’m the same sort of age as you and not greasy either!

I have dermatitis and use Laura Mercier Radiance Primer. It doesn't irritate my skin and it does give a "glow" Smile

Don't use the nyx shine killer one! I turned into mr blobby!

I love Bare Minerals original primer. Makes my skin feel incredibly smooth, and doesn't bring it out in spots (which many other things do).

I've used Smashbox then a Boots No7, skin looked great when I applied the foundation afterwards, Chantecaille/Laura Mercier/ Bourjois Healthy mix but then a few days after I'm as spotty as a leopard. Is it silicone or something that makes it look smooth.

My skin hates the silicone ones, always breaks me out.
I’m currently using a Collection one, white tube and black lid. No irritation or spots and keeps me shine free even in this hot weather.

I like the Clinique Universal Primer.

Might be all the silicone type ingredients in the primer. Have you tried the smashbox primer water - spray one that might be better. if you get primer water, do make sure you get water based foundation otherwise it will start going funny throughout day

Thank you

Laura Mercier Radiance Primer is silicone free Smile

SplatPancake · 09/08/2018 22:57

I can’t use anything where silicones are not at the v bottom of the ingredients list - love big and expensive lesson to learn....

I like the Juice Beauty illuminating primer - silicone free!
