Ex blackhead now lump, what to do

Hi, teenage DS had a blackhead - I squeezed it, his skin didn't want to give it up. It no longer has a dark head but is a bump, presumably sebum. it slowly got a bit bigger. I've just called a private dermatologist but they want £200 just to look at it (before doing anything!) so I'm now wondering if a dermatologist isn't the best/only way to go. Do any of you lovely mumsnetters have any ideas where might be good to try. I don't mind spending that, but I may be missing an equally good alternative. Thank you

You need to ask the Sporners. My first response would be warm compress on it two or three times a day. In between apply magnesium sulphate to draw anything out. If there is one, the sac will still be there. If that doesn't go, it will refill.Unless it's significantly disfiguring or infected a dermatologist is probably a bit of an overreaction.
