Hair extensions - tell me all

I'm considering it. My hair is medium length, wavy but can go frizzy - so worried about the maintenance to get them both the same texture. I'm not bothered about longer hair but I want thicker hair. I used to have thick hair but it's pathetic now after two kids and getting older!

How much should I expect to pay? £500 for decent hair extensions? I'm not sure what type is best? I guess the hairdresser would advise. And how much for maintenance?

The other thing is how much care does it need. I've got two young kids so not much time in the morning.

Thank you!!

Hi
I have hair extensions for thickness. It is a piece which is held in with micro clips. It looks very natural, maintenance is 4- 6 weekly tightening, and then it has to be removed and repositioned. At night I sleep in a loose plait to stop tangling. The hair cost and fitting was £80, tightening is £20 on top of my cut and colour etc. It lasts around 4 months. Looks like this;

Ps, I only wash my hair once a week, but use good quality moisturising shampoo and conditioner, I have 3 kids and not much grooming time!

You will struggle with them as the texture of your own hair will be different to the extensions if you’re prone to frizz. I tried it and it was a nightmare trying to blend my frizz into the lovely silky extensions. It kind of acted like Velcro in humid weather and causes so many tangles and knots. They were really good quality extensions too.

Ooh thanks all. Hmm I might try the microclips. My hair is ok if I have a Brazilian blow dry but I'm not sure if I can have that plus hair extensions

Mine have lasted 9 months (there was a supply problem with my particular hair colour). I paid £500 for mine. Its been amazing. I have to sleep with my hair in a plait and wash with a no sulphate shampoo (easy to find). Love mine

I’ve had tape in extensions before loved them but my lifestyle just does not suit them as I’m a gym bunny so have to wash my hair every day and apparently this is the worst thing you can do with hair extensions, so despite using the correct shampoos and conditioners for extensions they ended up dry and brittle and they were good quality hair extensions. If I only had to wash my hair once or twice a week I would have the all the time as they look fab.
