Men's trousers for women?

I've been looking at super slouchy trousers for the autumn (like the infamous Noholita ones) and stumbled across a lot of French blogs saying they're trying men's trousers. Is this something too trendy and French for a British mother to even think about pulling off? Will they just pull over my hips or fall down? Has anyone tried this or am I totally mad?

Definitely not too trendy. I have been wearing men's trousers for years! They are better quality, more functional, fit so much better and often have my sizes in the sale! Order from somewhere where it is easy to return or go instore to try on. They may not work for all shapes but they do for me. Much better than women's trousers which I generally hate!! I completely recommend!

Oh thank you greatgatsbygirl - your name sounds very appropriate too! Any tips on where you shop? Also what women's size do you wear and what does it translate to in men's? I think I need to head to the shops and try some on!

Oh my god I want those trousers! But I'm only 5ft tall so can't wear men's. Are petite ladies ones really expensive? Can I get boys ones?

Men's clothes in general is usually better quality and made of natural fibres. I like the oversize masculine look so I have a lot of men's jeans (made of real denim) and crew neck jumpers.

I tend to buy from Next or River Island. Next because they are so easy to return and River Island because they were the first men's trousers I bought and have been pretty reliable. I have varied in sizes. Currently approx. an 8 which is about a 28 inch waste and have been a 12 which is about a 32 inch. But don't quote me!!

Just go and try some on. I think you'll be surprised. I often get complements on my trousers and people are surprised they are mens. Although I don't tend to buy extremely baggy... more chinos, combats and recently some tuxedo trousers so apologies if it proves fruitless.

I'm pear shaped and men's trousers are a no no from me- size 12-14 bottom, and a 32 fits on the waist but looks awful on the hips, size 34 fits on the hips but look awful everywhere else. They're just not made for my proportions.

Thanks all. I will go and try some on. I'm not hugely pear shaped but definitely have hips so might find it an issue. My husband's stuff is way too big and would just fall down so can't get much of a picture from that. I do have a couple of his cashmere sweaters which shrank a bit though and they're fab!
