MAC lipstick recommendations?

hannnnnnnxo · 07/08/2018 18:43

I’m whittling down my large makeup collection and have a fair few MAC products to recycle and can get 3 free lipsticks in return. The thing is, I actually own a ridiculous amount of MAC lipsticks and most of them don’t suit me, like brights and limited edition ones. So I want to get some lipsticks that I will actually wear this time!

I’m looking for nude lipsticks and would appreciate recommendations. Honeylove/velvet teddy/blankety are about the darkest I can go before a nude looks awful on me. I like myth, hue, cremecup, angel etc. I haven’t been keeping up to date with Mac so I’m not sure if there are any newer releases that are fab?

Satin lipstick in Faux is lovely.

RedStef1983 · 07/08/2018 19:06

MAC test on animals so I wouldn't use them at all! Can you replace with another brand?

hannnnnnnxo · 07/08/2018 20:45

Thank you both. Funnily enough I already own faux! I was also unaware that Mac test on animals!

I always liked cherish satin

RedStef1983 · 07/08/2018 20:52

I was surprised too @hannnnnnnxo

It's because they sell in China- any cosmetics sold in China HAVE to be tested on animals under Chinese law.

I'm trying to be a bit more conscious when buying toiletries etc so have been doing lots of research. So many big brands test Sad

catlady34 · 07/08/2018 20:55

Mac do not test on animals at all, the Chinese government do www.maccosmetics.co.uk/animaltesting

Would highly recommend Velvet Teddy if you don't already have it, looks gorgeous on all skin tones.

BroomstickOfLove · 07/08/2018 20:56

My colouring is soft summer, so I look best in cool, muted tones and my absolute go-to lipstick is Mac Mehr.

freakinbananaspiders · 07/08/2018 20:58

It's irrelevant who does the testing. MAC allows testing of its products on animals so it can sell more products and make more money.

AlwaysHangry · 07/08/2018 21:00

Brave is a really nice colour goes with everything

catlady34 · 07/08/2018 21:02

Of course it's relevant who does the testing.

RedStef1983 · 07/08/2018 21:14

The fact they allow their products to be tested on animals is enough

Haworthia · 07/08/2018 21:17

Patisserie is my fave. Just a really lovely, sheer neutral. Modesty and Faux are nice too.

stoplickingthetelly · 07/08/2018 21:19

Patisserie is my favourite too.

CoconutAmericano · 07/08/2018 21:22

I really like New York Apple for Autumn/ winter

pinkunicorn20 · 07/08/2018 21:59

Another vote for velvet teddy

hannnnnnnxo · 07/08/2018 22:05

Thanks allFlowers

Patisserie is gorgeous, I did like it in store earlier! However I ended up recycling my empty products for Cherish, Brave and Shrimpton (which I’ve never seen before but it’s lovely!)

I will definitely look into the animal testing aspect of the brand, unfortunately I already visited the store before I saw the replies here. I suppose all the Estée Lauder brands have the same policy too which is a shameSad

Haha I already have velvet teddy too, I don’t really like it on me though.
