Boys school shoes advice please

Hi my youngest and only boy is due to start school in two weeks. Can anyone advise me on where is best to get nice school shoes that don't look like ugly big boats and possibly scratch resistant if that is such a thing with boys shoes? Thank you.

Independent shoe shops are your friend. I paticularly recommend Geox, wouldn't buy anything else se for my boys school shoes, they are pretty much indestructible. We have never worn out a pair, only grown out of the 6.

We've bought startrite this year. Ricosta are a good make too. Most independents stock a wide range of brands so better choice than say, Clark's (which would be worth a look too - we've only ever had one pair of shoes from Clark's, but they were good).

Great thanks we don't have any independents in our town sadly but will go Google and see if there is any on Glasgow, thanks!

DS is going into Y5 and I am still searching for the answer to this. Geox and M&S lasted a term; Clark’s half a term - not just looking scruffy but soles hanging off, holes in toes, holes in soles, stitching coming loose.... we’ve had better luck with independent brands, mostly a German brand called Superfeet, but i’ve not found a supplier recently. Start Rite are meant to be excellent, but they are too wide for ds’s unfeasibly narrow feet.

I bought ricosta jason last year and rebought for this year.
They lasted all year and i didnt even polish them
They have a good scratch resistant rubber toe. They were in the local shoe shop at £58, i got them on amazon for £29.

Not all Geox are equal! What you need are Geox Savage, DS is very hard on his shoes but these will last him a full school year (as long as he doesn't grow) and look presentable right to the end

MissRainbowBrite · 09/08/2018 20:47

We found Geox Savage to be the only ones that DS didn't destroy in a term. They withstood some very tough playing, climbing and footballing. He had them all the way through school until he outgrew the last size they made them in at age 12.

My son is starting school in a few weeks and I have bought him kickers. Got them in the sale for £20 and they fit easy, he can put them on easily and they seem great quality.
